Meet Richart Ruddie

We were lucky to catch up with Richart Ruddie recently and have shared our conversation below.

Richart, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Resilience is a vital quality that fuels the journey of every successful serial entrepreneur and digital marketer and I feel that I intrinsically have it. Drawing inspiration from the influential books “Relentless” which was written by Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan’s trainer, and “Grit” by Angela Duckworth, my resilience finds its roots in a combination of unwavering determination, unyielding focus, and an unrelenting work ethic.

From “Relentless,” I have learned the art of pushing myself beyond limits, just like Kobe and Jordan did in their relentless pursuit of excellence. This book emphasizes the importance of maintaining an unbreakable mindset, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth, and always striving for improvement. I derive my resilience from their unwavering commitment to the craft and their ability to bounce back stronger from failures as I have done so. Whether it’s been setbacks financially or in my personal life I always strive to make micro improvements in everything I do. Over time that adds up.

Similarly, “Grit” by Angela Duckworth highlights the significance of perseverance and passion in the face of adversity. By embracing the concept of grit, I have developed an unwavering resolve to overcome obstacles and pursue my goals relentlessly. I understand that setbacks are an inherent part of the entrepreneurial journey, but it is through resilience that I find the strength to persist and adapt in the face of adversity. When I get knocked down or attacked I remember my ABC’s and thats to Always Be Calm.

I firmly believe that success is a product of consistent hard work and the ability to stay the course even in the most challenging times.

In summary, my resilience is nurtured by the lessons taught in “Relentless” and “Grit.” These books have shaped my mindset, helping me to embrace challenges, persevere in the face of adversity, and maintain an unwavering work ethic. Through their teachings, I have cultivated the resilience necessary to navigate the unpredictable landscape of entrepreneurship and digital marketing, ensuring that I am prepared to face any obstacle that comes my way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Outside of my workday where I’m building a new privacy software I have a handful of hobbies. Some of those hobbies end up being other businesses like a Childrens Youtube channel I am working on building but my life going to art fairs, collecting art work, skiing, and spending time with my family is extremely important. I recently had an exit of one of my businesses and after the end of that era I took my family on an international trip. While on vacation we eat at authentic and unique restaurants, go to art exhibits, and meet up with friends or business colleagues. Fortunately or unfortunately I can’t stop working even on a family vacation.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, I attribute my success to three impactful qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that have shaped my entrepreneurial path. To those who are early in their journey, I offer the following advice on how they can develop and improve on these essential aspects and am always glad to provide advice if you’d like to connect:

1. Adaptability: In the fast-paced and ever-changing world of entrepreneurship, adaptability is crucial. Being able to quickly respond to new challenges, market shifts, and emerging trends can make all the difference. To develop adaptability, embrace a growth mindset and a willingness to learn. Seek out new experiences, actively seek feedback, and continuously educate yourself about your industry. Embrace change and view it as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback. Emphasize flexibility and agility in your decision-making process, and remain open to adjusting your strategies as needed. In 2010 I was about to start a Facebook wish selling business but pivoted to the reputation management world. At this time many clients called in saying that they were using the Yellow Pages for advertising but it wasn’t working anymore and they failed to adapt to the internet in time.

2. Resilience: Resilience as you will see in my 3rd quality ties into things that really impacted me over the last decade. My ability to bounce back from failures, setbacks, and obstacles. Cultivate resilience by maintaining a strong belief in myself and my vision. Embracing failure as a stepping stone to success and learning from every setback. As my grandfather said knowing what you don’t know is extremely important and that made it easier to delegate tasks out instead of trying to do them all myself. I’ve surrounded myself with a giant team of experts in their respective fields. For mindfulness I practice hot yoga and eat very healthy. In fact Im working on de-aging at the moment using a base of tests showing my epigenitic factors. Remember to set goals and try to smash and exceed those goals because you will always want more.

3. Micro Improvements: In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, knowledge is power. I made a commitment to a life of learning by staying curious and seeking out new information and skills. I’ve always been eager to stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and consumer behaviors. Invest time in learning, reading, networking, and improving your every day processes.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My mother has been extremely impactful for me and my life. While I don’t talk a lot about my childhood or how I was raised it was my mother who instilled the idea of greatness and what could be achieved in life with hard work, diligence, and staying out of trouble. While I didn’t always take her advice or listen to her when I was younger in time we all mature and find our own paths to success.
