We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Norelly Tatiana Berrocal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Norelly Tatiana , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Growing up, I was deeply immersed in two worlds—sports and art. My dream was to study art in college, but when my dream school shut down, I felt pressured to take a more “stable” career path. I pursued psychology, which gave me a deep understanding of human emotions, leading me to work in mental health and later education, where I explored children’s emotional well-being.
Faith has also been a huge part of my journey. Though I grew up in church, I hesitated to share my talents until, at 24, I joined the church’s service group and got involved in multimedia. That experience reignited my creative side and opened my eyes to storytelling.
Looking back, I realize my love for capturing moments was always there, and being creative wherever I go stemmed from my parents. My dad was a huge nerd lover of computers and systems, and my mom an art lover and creator, together they documented everything—birthdays, daily life, even cooking—on VCRs and disposable cameras. Cherishing pictures of everything is so important to me because of them. They never missed a chance to head out to CVS or Walmart every weekend to get their pictures, then come back home and sit with me as we looked through them repeatedly.
It all came full circle when I embraced photography and content creation. My passion for storytelling, psychology, and faith are all connected, allowing me to preserve emotions and create meaningful work. I’ve learned that purpose isn’t just one thing—it’s the journey of how our experiences, passions, and faith shaped me.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a photographer and content creator with a deep passion for storytelling, emotion, and capturing life’s most meaningful moments. My work is not just about taking pictures—it’s about preserving feelings, connections, and the beauty that often goes unnoticed. Photography, for me, is a way to share the art I see behind the lens with the world.
My journey is deeply rooted in faith. I believe that every person, every moment, and every story has purpose, and I strive to reflect that through my work. I run an on-the-go photography business, meaning I don’t work out of a studio—I bring the experience to my clients, wherever their story unfolds. This allows me to meet incredible people from different places, and my goal is to keep expanding, traveling, and capturing stories across the world.
Beyond that, I have a huge curiosity for trying new things, pushing my creative visions, and challenging myself. With every session—whether it’s with individuals, families, businesses, or influencers—I grow as an artist. I love experimenting with new ideas and embracing each project as a chance to create something fresh and meaningful.
Right now, I’m excited about the growth of my business, especially with new opportunities like event photography. I am very spontaneous and if you are in New Jersey you’ll be seeing me soon asking you for a random vision creation on the spot. I also love giving back, and this month, I’m celebrating Women’s Month with a special photoshoot giveaway. But more than anything, my biggest goal is to be remembered as someone who shared her vision, captured emotions, and created something lasting—one story, one photo at a time.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One would be Adaptability because Life doesn’t always go as planned, but being open to change led me to photography. Two would be Emotional Awareness because My psychology background helps me capture not just images, but feelings.
Three would be Curiosity & Growth since I constantly challenge myself to try new things and evolve. My advice would have to be “Embrace the chapter you are in at the moment, let every emotion in your body feel what they have to feel so that genuine creativity comes to mind, and be open to pushing boundaries without a care in the world.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The most influential figures in my journey have been both my parents and God. My dad keeps me grounded with my emotions, reminding me to stay true to myself, while my mom shows me what reality really can be, helping me embrace both the struggles and the beauty in life.
But above all, it is God who has been my constant guide. Through my errors and huge mistakes, He’s always reminded me why I chose to walk in His path and why He saved me from danger and wrong paths. His grace has been my source of strength, teaching me resilience and the importance of purpose in every step I take.
