Meet Jupiter Stone

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jupiter Stone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jupiter, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

Let’s be real – being the only one in the room is a trip. So much so it may cause you to not want to go on the voyage at all.

It’s equal parts intimidating, exhausting, and a little bit thrilling but for me for the most part of the beginning… I mostly felt crazy.

Crazy enough to do it.

I’ve walked into spaces where no one looked like me, talked like me, or even fully understood where I was coming from. But instead of letting that stop me, I turned it into my superpower.

I grew up knowing that islanders, creatives, and queer entrepreneurs like me weren’t getting the shine we deserved. So, I stopped waiting for someone to give me a seat at their table and built my own. Not table. Agency. It gave me mine back.

Aloha Media Projects wasn’t just born out of ambition; it was born out of necessity.

Because if we don’t create space for ourselves by centering ourselves, who will?

Here’s how I’ve made it work:

I Show Up Loud & Proud. I bring my full self into every room. No code-switching, no watering it down. The more I leaned into my unique voice, the more I attracted the right clients, collaborators, and a whole community that gets it.

I Play Chess, Not Checkers. Listen Linda, when you’re the only one in the room, you have to read the energy. I know when to push, when to listen, and when to hit ‘em with a game-changing idea they didn’t see coming. Adaptability is everything. Islanders know how to do that because it’s what’s helped us survive.

I Make My Wins Count for More Than Just Me. I don’t just open doors – I hold them open. My success means more islanders, more creatives, and more voices like mine get a shot. If I’m eating, my people are eating too. If I’m a millionaire, it’s only after my team has become so.

Being the only one in the room? It’s tough.

But I don’t see it as a disadvantage so much as a responsibility.
And one I’m honored to have.

Because the more I show up, the more I prove that I’m not just the only one… I’m the first of many.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m Jupiter F. Stone.

I’m a creative media director, entrepreneur, and the founder of Aloha Media Projects (AMP).

My mission? To connect islanders and entrepreneurs from the Atlantic and Pacific, using Hawai‘i and Puerto Rico as a case study for global impact.

Islanders are some of the most creative, resourceful, and resilient people on the planet, yet we’ve been overlooked in the global economy for too long. I’m here to change that.

What We Do at AMP

We create remote work opportunities by bridging the gap between talent in island communities and businesses, brands, and entrepreneurs. Our clients are primarily in the U.S. and U.K. and need high-quality media, strategy, and storytelling.

They also understand this is a way to support local islander economies.

Our goal?

To keep island wealth circulating within islander economies while providing world-class services to global brands.

We help island-based creatives, strategists, and digital professionals find remote work opportunities that allow them to thrive without leaving their home communities through free digital resources, training and personal brand development.

By studying the economic, cultural, and entrepreneurial landscapes of both islands, we’re developing evergreen systems that can be replicated across island communities worldwide.

We partner with businesses and brands to deliver top-tier media, digital marketing, and content strategy, proving that island-based professionals can compete on a global scale while building digital assets that build generational wealth.

Islanders don’t just belong in the global economy – we enhance it.

The future of work is digital, and I’m making sure our communities are not only included but leading the charge.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three things made the biggest impact on my journey:

1. Leaning Into My Uniqueness

I stopped waiting for permission to take up space. The second I stopped watering myself down, doors started opening. The right people found me. The wrong rooms stopped mattering.

Advice: Don’t hide from it – own it. If you don’t, someone else will, and they’ll define your value on their terms. Your uniqueness is an asset, but only if you treat it like one.

2. Constant Upskilling

I never stop learning. Ever. The media landscape, the creator economy, remote work – it’s all shifting in real-time. Staying ahead means putting myself in the right rooms, absorbing everything, then building my own rooms. I don’t need to be the smartest person in the room – unless I’m getting paid to be, and even then, I don’t stay too long. Growth requires fresh perspectives, not echo chambers.

Advice: Put yourself in the rooms you want to be in, however you can. Shadow people, offer value, pay attention. Then, when you outgrow those rooms, create your own. Be a student first so you can become the best teacher later.

3. Strategic Storytelling

People don’t just buy products or services – they buy stories, trust, and resonance. Everything I’ve built – my agency, my brand, my connections – came from understanding how to craft and communicate narratives that matter. And storytelling isn’t just for brands it’s a survival skill.

Advice: Learn interviewing skills. Just like negotiation, the ability to ask the right questions, actively listen, and shape a compelling narrative will change your life. Whether you’re pitching, selling, or simply trying to understand someone’s perspective, storytelling is your power move.

At the end of the day, success isn’t about fitting in—it’s about standing out in the right ways.
So be bold, be curious, and never stop building. You’ve got everything to gain and it’s already yours. Move like it.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m looking to partner with purpose-driven entrepreneurs, creatives, and innovators who are ready to use LinkedIn as a wealth-building tool – not just for themselves, but for the next generation.

If you’re aligned with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals and believe in leveraging new media to build generational wealth, let’s talk.

My mission is to turn content into capital and fund the next wave of revolutionary islander storytellers – creators I’ve been training since 2005.

If you’re about impact-driven digital ecosystems, financial empowerment, and media equity for island communities, we should be building together.
