We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mary Lockrem a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My greatest inspiration is my sister Katie. Katies had a seizure when a baby that left her with special needs. I think growing up with her needs and seeing how so many lacked compassion around her made me want to excel in noticing when others needed something and where I could fulfill that need. This was a gift that my sister gave me because we all need another to be kind, compassionate, and, at times, generous!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Morning show radio personality. I love accompanying our listeners on their morning drive each morning or just starting their day with them. My goal is always to bring a smile to their face! Currently, I am focused on growing my career. I would like to emcee/host more events and use my platform for good such as speaking engagements. I find that meeting the artists is exciting but what is most special about my line of work is meeting our listeners, hearing their stories, and often times hearing how something I said made an impact on their life. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Take risks
2.No means maybe
3. Silence is sometimes the loudest response
I wish I had taken more risks at a younger age. Always remember that no often times can just mean “not right now, go back and ask! It took me 50 yrs to realize that I don’t always have to prove my point.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking to collaborate or be booked for more speaking engagements. I would love to use my platform and life experiences to touch others lives in an impactful way. I also love endorsement deals when working with companies and products that align with my values and I believe in.
