Meet Lani Leblanc

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lani Leblanc. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Lani, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by never shutting that part of my brain off. I’m constantly stimulated by films: European films, love stories, and wedding films. If I’m busy around the house I turn on some classical music and really tune into the rhythm and flow of the sounds coming together.

Aside of this, I am a wife and a mother. I am always witnessing the growth in my family and it truly inspires me to go and capture others love stories the way I see mine.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hi there!

I am a twenty-seven year old mother of two. I started my business after having my first child at twenty-one. I met my husband when I was fourteen and we’ve been attached at the hip ever since! I am truly blessed.

Growing up I always studied movies and romanticized life to its full capability. I do not come from much but having a gift with my hands and creativity has been freeing.

I started off doing family photos and eventually tested out the wedding industry to see what I could offer. I haven’t stepped away from it since 2021. As the industry changed so did what I offer. I’ve learned so many new things: film, super8, timeline building, etc… This industry is so much more than taking photographs or videos. It’s connecting with other humans and documenting their very fragile moments.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

We are all on our own journey and timing so I’ve learned to appreciate all that I’ve been through. Three skills that have gotten me here are: camera settings, compassion and hustle.

If you are just starting your journey- remind yourself- everything is in perfect timing. As long as you are doing what you can to elevate yourself and your business daily (which can range from 1-100% effort) you will make it. Take breaks when needed. Stay inspired.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

The biggest improvement I’ve had for myself and my business in the past twelve months was learning to stop comparing and focus solely on my business. This does not stop me from being inspired by others. There are so many skilled photographers + videographers around this world of ours. I continue to remember my art is mine and I am in control of how I make myself feel.
