We recently connected with Jalin Warren and have shared our conversation below.
Jalin, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I developed my confidence and self-esteem from doing the things that scared me and doing things to show myself love and self-respect.
The thing about confidence is you can only fake it for so long. True confidence comes from actually looking your fears in the face and taking them head on. And it also comes from repetition. Doing whats hard over and over again will give you a deep rooted confidence ingrained deep into your psyche.
Loving and respecting yourself are the best advices I can give anyone when trying to develop self esteem. Respect and love will ensure you’re granting yourself grace when you mess up, and that you walk away from things or people that deliberately bring you down.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Jalin Warren and I live in my favorite city in the world, San Diego, California! I moved here from my hometown in Titusville, Florida 7 years ago and it feels like a dream.
I originally went to college for medicine and science, but I learned that wasn’t the path I wanted. I always wanted to help people mentally and spiritually, and have my own business. So eventually I learned to just combine the two and thus I came up with a coaching company and podcast called Elev8ted Minds.
Elev8ted Minds is about growing and evolving mentally, spiritually, and physically so that you can create the dream life you’ve always wanted and become your best self. It’s all possible but it starts with changing your mindset.
I offer coaching and venting services and also will be dropping my book very soon which I believe will help people with perspective on overcoming life’s many challenges and prevailing.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 most important qualities, skills or areas of knowledge are constant learning, fitness, and people skills/general psychology.
If you can always be a Lifelong student, you will always have the upper hand. This ensures that your mind is always expanding, and this provides you with a plethora of knowledge that will be beneficial for opportunities and obstacles that come your way.
Fitness is something we should all have knowledge of and should prioritize. I don’t think it gets talked about enough, but especially if you have alot of stress in your life or you’re wanting to develop more discipline, fitness is something to incorpate into your life. It’s a lifetime investment that pays off in dividends, not only for your body but also for your mind.
And you should always develop your people skills and understand human psychology and how the average human thinks and behaves. If you can understand people, you can sell/market anything, de-escalate anything, persuade anything snd the list goes on.
People tend to not like people very much or talking to them, but if you want to go anywhere in life, you NEED to be able to talk and connect to people. Especially doing this on an emotional level can greater deeper bonds and stronger relationships amongst your friends and the ones you love.
If you can focus on these things early in life, everything can become smooth sailing for you.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Atomic habits is one of the most impactful books I’ve ever read, especially being someone that had the hardest time.being consistent. The biggest lesson is that you just need to START! You don’t have to be perfect bit you have to be consistent. Too many people fail simply because they do too much too soon and then get overwhelmed and quit.
Its important to realize that baby steps can help you create the habit comfortably which in turn help you to become consistent. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so why do you think habits should be any different?
