We recently connected with Sam Ghanem and have shared our conversation below.
SAM, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Initially I’d say I get my resilience, and many may agree, from my experiences in life.
Recently the word resilience has been redefined in my mind as yet another choice we get to make in our one big life… for me, last year represented a time of completely leaning into the unlearning and the undoing, the unbecoming in the best way.
I came to look at the letters I L I in the word resilience as “I live In” and it sunk in; I choose to live in resilience; that is, the undoing.
I am resolute in that to be resilient does mean hustle or hard, it does not need to be rising from a fire necessarily. Resilience need not be a complement or a state of being per say as, sometimes, it’s the only choice you have; in, in fact, gets to be a space we create to launch from.
I get my resilience from clarity, curiosity and faith to keep unbecoming so as to truly launch my inner self in the most aligned way.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My ability to ask questions and stay curious, I truly believe, has made a major impact in my life (it’s also allowed me to make an impact on others). Remaining open minded to possibilities and, in the most chaotic of moments, leaning into my inner knowing has always supported me. Being culturally diverse affirms, for me, the reality that there are so many ways to design your own life and there’s no sure-fire way; any how you look at it, there’s no guarantees and certainly no refunds in time.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My great uncle, Uncle Hass, has been the most crucial human in my life and gave me the biggest gift, laugher. He gave me permission to laugh at my traumas and presented a space for me, since childhood, to overcome. The most constant presence in my life was and is him.
He was reliable and he was loving. He was a leader, and he was also a confidant. He made soft look strong, and he was not afraid to pave his own way. He did not live in fear of what other’s thought.
While he may no longer be with me in physical form, he remains so wildly present. Uncle Hass was an entrepreneur and a trail blazer whose values lived within his familial ties and his own resilience.
And wherever he went, he took you with him <3. He took me in at 14 years old and never, even in the most challenging of times, turned his back on me.
