We recently connected with Danilo Habusmel and have shared our conversation below.
DANILO, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey of self-awareness and growth for me. Early in my career, I often felt like an outsider looking in, questioning whether I truly belonged in the spaces I occupied. However, several key steps helped me navigate these feelings:
Acknowledge and Normalize: I began by acknowledging that imposter syndrome is a common experience shared by many successful individuals. Realizing that I wasn’t alone in these feelings helped normalize them and reduced their power over me.
Focus on Achievements: I made it a habit to regularly reflect on my accomplishments and the hard work that led to them. From my time as the president of Recotur in Chile, promoting collaborative tourism, to creating A Mile Up LLC and DEEPCLEANCOLORADO in the United States, each of these milestones has been a testament to my dedication and effort.
Seek Support and Mentorship: Engaging with mentors and colleagues who believed in my potential provided invaluable support. Their encouragement and constructive feedback reinforced my self-belief. Collaborating with initiatives like Chile Advantage and the new community challenges has allowed me to surround myself with inspiring and visionary people.
Embrace Continuous Learning: I embraced a growth mindset, viewing challenges and setbacks as opportunities for learning and improvement. This shift in perspective allowed me to approach new situations with confidence and curiosity.
Celebrate Progress: Celebrating both small and significant milestones has been crucial. It’s important to acknowledge progress and give myself credit for the effort and dedication I put into my endeavors. Whether it’s responding to client inquiries or developing new collaborations for DEEPCLEANCOLORADO, every step forward counts.
Overall, overcoming imposter syndrome has been about building resilience and recognizing my worth. It’s an ongoing process, but each step forward strengthens my confidence and reinforces my commitment to creating positive impact through my work and community efforts.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am Danilo Habusmel, an entrepreneur and community leader, deeply committed to creating positive impact and building strong community ties. My journey began in Chile, where I served as the president of Recotur, promoting collaborative tourism and sustainable practices. This experience laid the foundation for my subsequent ventures in the United States.
One of my most exciting projects is Chile Advantage by A Mile Up LLC. This initiative focuses on promoting high-quality Chilean products, including wines, wool products, construction materials, marine and livestock products, and mining services, to the US market. The aim is to build a bridge between Chile and Colorado, fostering cultural exchange and economic growth.
In addition, I am the founder of DEEPCLEANCOLORADO, a residential and commercial cleaning service dedicated to providing top-notch cleaning solutions while prioritizing sustainability and eco-friendly practices. Our goal is to establish DEEPCLEANCOLORADO as a trusted name in the cleaning and maintenance industry, known for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Beyond these ventures, I am passionate about community projects. Currently, we are developing new initiatives, aimed at transforming sanctuary cities in Colorado into centers of inclusion and social adaptation. These projects are designed to support community businesses, improve local environments, and foster a sense of belonging and purpose among residents.
What makes my work truly special is the focus on creating meaningful connections and giving back to the community. It’s not just about financial success; it’s about sharing experiences, contributing to the well-being of others, and building a strong, supportive network.
I invite everyone to learn more about our projects and join us in making a difference. Whether it’s through Chile Advantage, DEEPCLEANCOLORADO, or our community initiatives, there are countless opportunities to get involved and make an impact.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe three key qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge had the most significant impact:
Strategic Vision and Planning: Having a clear vision and the ability to strategically plan has been crucial in navigating complex challenges and seizing opportunities. My experience as president of Recotur, promoting collaborative tourism, and founding ventures like A Mile Up LLC and DEEPCLEANCOLORADO have all benefited from this skill. For those early in their journey, I recommend developing a strong strategic mindset by continuously learning, setting clear goals, and breaking them down into actionable steps.
Resilience and Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and maintain resilience in the face of adversity has been vital. During the COVID-19 pandemic, together with a great friend who worked with Robert Kiyosaki and learned a lot about disruptive business, we managed and mentored over $2 million to support Latin American tourism. This experience taught me the importance of staying flexible and finding creative solutions. To develop this quality, embrace challenges as learning opportunities and maintain a positive, growth-oriented attitude.
**Community Engagement and Collaboration****: Building strong community ties and collaborating with others have been fundamental to my success. Initiatives like Chile Advantage and our community projects , demonstrate the value of creating meaningful connections and working towards a shared purpose. My advice for those starting their journey is to actively seek out networking opportunities, build relationships with mentors and peers, and contribute to community-focused projects.
The guidance and support from my friend who collaborated with Robert Kiyosaki have been instrumental in understanding disruptive business models and applying these insights to our projects. His mentorship has greatly enriched my approach to entrepreneurship and community development.
To those just starting, my advice is to cultivate these qualities and skills through continuous learning, seeking mentorship, and remaining open to new experiences. Embrace the journey, and remember that success is not just about financial achievements but also about making a positive impact and building lasting relationships.
