Meet Hannah Knighton

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah Knighton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.

Hi Hannah , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I think my resilience comes from losing my mom and the healing I’ve found through travel. Losing her was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced, as her death was sudden. Traveling has helped me process that grief and feel connected to her in a meaningful way. I’ve spread her ashes in countries around the world, which has turned into a deeply personal way of honoring her adventurous spirit.

When I’m standing on a mountaintop or watching the sunset over the ocean, it feels like she’s right there with me. Each place I visit becomes a part of our story, a reminder that even after loss, there’s still so much beauty to be found.

Carrying her memory with me gives me the strength to keep moving forward.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’ve always been a storyteller at heart, and as I’ve grown I’ve blended my love for exploration with my passion for writing. Professionally, I focus on travel writing, where I share experiences that blend adventure, cultural insight, and nature with a focus on meaningful stories. I also work as a science writer, where I dive into topics around marine biology and environmental science, merging my academic background with my love for creative writing.

What’s special about my brand is how it blends travel and personal experience into something that resonates on a deeper level. My work isn’t just about beautiful places—it’s about the emotional journey that comes with exploring, healing, and discovering new aspects of life through travel. I’ve had the privilege of traveling to some incredible places around the world, spreading my mom’s ashes in countries along the way, which has deepened my connection to the world and shaped my approach to storytelling.

Right now, I’m focused on creating more content around the theme of healing through travel and connecting with like-minded people who appreciate a more mindful approach to exploring the world.

I’m also expanding my offerings to include eBooks and other content that tells more exclusive, in-depth stories from my travels, with a focus on sharing concrete tips & experiences as well as personal reflections in a way that’s authentic and enriching.

What excites me most about my work is the ability to inspire others to explore the world—whether it’s hiking through remote mountain trails, exploring marine ecosystems, or diving into the vibrant cultures of different countries. I love helping people see the world through a lens of curiosity and connection. I’m looking forward to building a community of people who are as passionate about discovering the world as I am.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, curiosity, and storytelling.

1. Resilience has been a crucial quality for me. After losing my mom, I realized that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back—it’s about moving forward even when the path isn’t clear. Travel and freelancing can be unpredictable, but finding the strength to keep going, even in tough times, has been essential. My advice to anyone starting out is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Always give yourself grace where and when you need it, but the more you push through, the stronger you become.

2. Storytelling is the skill that’s truly shaped my career. As a writer, being able to connect with readers on an emotional level is key. Whether I’m writing about my travels, marine biology, or personal experiences, the ability to craft compelling, authentic narratives has been central to my success. For those early in their journey, I’d recommend practicing storytelling in every form—whether through blog posts, social media, or journaling. The more you write, the more your unique voice will come through.

3. Curiosity has fueled both my travel and writing. It’s the spark that keeps me exploring new places, meeting new people, and diving deeper into the stories that need to be told. I’d encourage anyone starting out to stay curious. Whether you’re a writer, a traveler, or anyone following a creative path, asking questions and being open to learning will take you places you never imagined. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and let your curiosity guide you.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I’m always open to collaborating with like-minded individuals and brands! I’m particularly interested in partnering with people or organizations that share my passion for travel, storytelling, and meaningful experiences. This could include fellow travel bloggers, content creators, environmental advocates, tourism boards, hotels, restaurants, or brands with a focus on sustainability, adventure, and personal growth.

I love collaborating with others who are eager to share authentic stories and create content that resonates on a deeper level—whether it’s about healing through travel, exploring new cultures, or connecting with nature.

If you’re in the hospitality industry—whether you’re a hotel, restaurant, or a local experience provider—and are looking for a genuine collaboration to showcase your offerings, I’d love to hear from you. I enjoy creating content that highlights the beauty and uniqueness of each destination, and how travel connects us to both the places we visit and the people we meet.
