Meet Brett Curry

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brett Curry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brett, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My mom got cancer when I was 14. I saw here battle through some intense struggles. She stayed positive throughout and kept the focus on others. She passed after a 2 year battle, but she was and is an inspiration. Sure business is tough. Disappointment is real. Imposter Syndrome pops up. Put in the context of mortality and terminal illness – business struggles are light and momentary.

Also, learning through sports and some really demanding coaches how put us through the ringer (specifically a basketball coach). I felt like I was going to die at times, but I didn’t. Ha! Learned that I can handle a lot

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I run OMG Commerce – we’re performance marketing agency helping DTC and omni-channel retail brands scale profitably!

We’re a Google & YouTube premier partner and a top spender on YouTube ads for agencies our size.

We’ve worked with great brands like: NATIVE, Boom Beauty, Crumbl Cookie, RTIC.

We just one an Agency Excellence Award for work we recently did for RTIC. We used YouTube ads in select US cities to drive sales lift in Walmart stores for their wheeled coolers and drinkware. We saw an average of 12-25% sales lift in our different regionas.

We also help brands grow on Amazon and through email and SMS.

Our mission is Building Profitable, High-Growth Brands through Performance Marketing

I get invited to speak at Google/YouTube offices 1-2 times per year teaching brands how to growth with YouTube ads.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. Speaking and communicating especially from stage. Translated well into hosting a podcast.
2. Digital marketing. I understand the ads, campaigns, offers, etc. that are likely to work.
3. Building trust with partners and team

Advice: be willing to do what it takes.
If you say you’ll do something, do it. It won’t take long and your reputation will precede you..

PRACTICE and be willing to look like an idiot (in safe environments). THe only want to improve your speaking is to practice, practice, practice. You won’t be great when you first start. That’s to be expected!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We’re looking to acquire a paid social agency! Also, we’re looking for an email agency and a CRO agency.

We’re looking to collab with agencies serving DTC and retail brands and we’re looking to work with great DTC and omni-channel retail brands who want to go on Amazon, in brick and mortar stores and on their own dot com through performance advertising on YouTube, Google and Meta.
