Meet Miya Cymone

We recently connected with Miya Cymone and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Miya, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I come from a big family—four sisters, one brother—and I landed right in the middle. For years, I was the punchline to every joke, the one they teased the most. I built a tough exterior, convincing myself that if I could withstand them, no one else’s words could touch me. But that illusion shattered when I started dating seriously in college.

I thought I was in love, so I let my guard down. And just like that, every layer of self-protection I had built was bulldozed. I found myself standing there—wide open, full of doubt, and completely unrecognizable to myself. Someone else was defining who I was, and I couldn’t even challenge them because, deep down, I didn’t know the answer myself. The mirror reflected a stranger.

That realization shook me. I knew something had to change. So, I walked away from that unhealthy relationship, wiped my tears, and stepped into a gym for the first time—not just to train my body, but to rebuild myself. Every drop of pain, frustration, and self-doubt hit the gym floor and stayed there. And in its place, I found strength—not just physically, but within.

Losing myself turned out to be the greatest gift. I had a blank slate, a chance to rebuild on my own terms. Through fitness, I discovered a version of myself that I not only recognized but loved—unconditionally. I made a promise to truly know myself: the good, the bad, the messy, and the powerful. And now, when I look in the mirror, I don’t just see myself—I see a woman who is strong, confident, and unapologetically her.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m Miya Cymone, a proud Mississippi native who has found a new home—and a deep passion for growth—in Colorado Springs. My personal fitness journey shaped who I am today, teaching me lessons I had to learn the hard way. Looking back, I wish I had more women in fitness to guide and support me. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to ensure that no woman has to navigate her fitness journey alone.

My platform is for women, by a woman—a space where women can not only build stronger bodies but also gain confidence, cultivate meaningful relationships, and embrace total body wellness. I believe fitness is more than just working out; it’s about aligning the mind, body, and spirit to create lasting transformation. I work hand in hand with my clients, offering motivation, support, and empowerment every step of the way.

Right now, I’m deeply focused on business and personal development to become the best leader and business owner I can be. I’m actively engaged in programs like THRIVE Network and the Women’s Community Leadership Initiative (WCLI), while also connecting with mentors, community leaders, and fellow business owners to grow, learn, and make an impact.

At my core, I value integrity, community, and growth—and I stand true to those values every day. Whether through fitness, mentorship, or simply spreading love and positivity, I am committed to uplifting and empowering women to become the strongest version of themselves.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful lessons I learned on my fitness journey were:
1. Take Lots of Videos and Pictures
Progress isn’t always visible in the mirror or on the scale, and it’s easy to feel like you’re not improving. But when you document your journey, you create proof of how far you’ve come. Even on days when you feel stuck, looking back at old photos or videos can motivate you to keep going. For those just starting out, I recommend taking a baseline picture and video—even if you don’t feel “ready.” You’ll thank yourself later!
2. Don’t Focus on the Scale
The scale can be misleading, especially when you’re gaining muscle while losing fat. Early in my journey, I let the number define my progress, which led to unnecessary frustration. I now focus on how I feel, how my clothes fit, and how strong I’m getting. My advice? Shift your mindset early—track progress in multiple ways, like taking measurements, celebrating strength gains, and focusing on non-scale victories like better energy and confidence.
3. Find People in Fitness Who Look Like Me and Align With My Goals
I wish I had known the importance of surrounding myself with women in fitness who understood my unique challenges. Whether it’s finding a trainer, a supportive gym community, or an online fitness mentor, having role models and guidance from people who share similar experiences makes the journey less overwhelming and more empowering. For beginners, I suggest seeking out women-led fitness spaces, trainers who specialize in women’s health, or online communities that align with your goals. Having the right support system can make all the difference!

My biggest piece of advice for those starting their journey? Be patient and trust the process. Fitness is about so much more than just changing your body—it’s about strengthening your mind, building confidence, and discovering what you’re truly capable of. Keep going, and don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way!

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is a woman who is ready to invest in herself—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. She may be new to fitness or restarting her journey, but she’s made the decision that she deserves to feel strong, confident, and empowered.

She is open-minded and willing to show up for herself, even on the hard days. She understands that fitness is more than just working out—it’s about growth, self-discovery, and transformation. She’s ready to leave her doubts, stress, and self-imposed limits on the gym floor and step into a version of herself that is stronger, healthier, and unstoppable.

Most importantly, she is determined to change her current reality. She knows it won’t happen overnight, but she’s committed to the process and excited to be part of a supportive community that uplifts and motivates her along the way.

If you’re ready to prioritize YOU and take control of your health, you’re exactly the kind of woman I’m here to help. Let’s do this together!
