We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yaicha Tinker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yaicha below.
Yaicha , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience has been found through an incredibly challenging decade marked by profound loss and heartache. The struggle with multiple miscarriages, a preterm birth, and the devastating loss of my son has tested my limits in ways I never imagined possible. Each experience, particularly navigating the uncertainty of having two babies in the NICU—one born at just 26 weeks—has taught me the depths of my strength and the importance of hope. Coupled with the emotional experience of being laid off from a long term job. It is this journey through grief and adversity that has shaped my resilience.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a Master Esthetician since 2006, my career ambitions have always been driven by a passion for enhancing the natural beauty of others and helping them feel confident in their own skin. My experience spans various environments, from luxurious spas and medical spas to plastic surgery and now dermatology, each offering invaluable lessons. Throughout my journey, I have faced significant life challenges, including navigating the complexities of high risk pregnancies and preterm births, which have deepened my determination to find balance in my life. My goal is to continue building the aesthetic career I have worked so hard to establish while embracing the joys and responsibilities of motherhood. I continue working to find a balance that honors my relationship, professional aspirations and my role as a mom.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my path are resilience, adaptability, and a strong support system. Resilience has allowed me to navigate the challenges I’ve faced, from personal loss to career transitions, reminding me that setbacks can lead to growth.
Adaptability has been crucial in helping me shift my focus and embrace new opportunities, whether it’s exploring different areas within the aesthetic field or balancing my career with motherhood. Finally, what has helped me the most is having a solid support system—Im extremely blessed to have a supportive Husband , friends, family, and colleagues—has provided me with the encouragement and perspective needed to keep moving forward and be the support I needed.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to try and embrace the challenges that come, (Im still working on this one)- they create the opportunities for learning and growth. Second, remain adaptable; be open to change and willing to explore various paths within your field. And third, invest time in building your support system. Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you, as their encouragement can make all the difference. Finally, don’t forget to find joy in the little things along the way—these moments of happiness can fuel your passion and keep you motivated on your journey.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Throughout my journey, my husband has been my rock, providing incredible support during times of grief and loss. His strength, helped me navigate the darkest moments when i needed strength. He has not only stood by me through the challenges of our personal losses but has also encouraged me to pursue my professional aspirations,
