Meet Eduardo Rosas

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Eduardo Rosas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Eduardo below.

Hi Eduardo, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from the moments in my life where I faced adversity. My grandmothers death, years of dealing with my fathers drug abuse, then eventually his death cornered me. These moments, plus many others, created the environment for my resilience to be exercised but more importantly, strengthened.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been an artist for as long as I could remember. After years of artistic training in school I was left to my own devices in the “real world”. While working security one night at 1800 Lucky in Miami, I knew I needed to make a change. Up until that point I had this self serving mentality of wanting to be a famous artist. God had shown me other wise. I decided to be of service to my community with my artistic talents. One of my favorite Dj’s, Oscar G, was spinning music one night and I gifted him a custom illustration. A week or so later he presented an art opportunity that changed the entire trajectory of my career.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities that were impactful in my journey were humility, determination, & self awareness. However, Each quality has one key ingredient, honesty. For you to be humble, you have to recognize there’s always someone better than you. To have laser like determination, you have to be honest with yourself about what you want. Self awareness? Take an honest look at yourself and the areas (blind spots) of who you are that need development.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I stop everything I’m doing because doing more won’t solve anything. I take a deep breath and step away momentarily, this gives me time to assess the situation from an objective point of view. This strategy grants me the time to go for a walk and/or speak with a loved one. With that being said, make sure you have a support system that you can trust because they will be the deciding factor of your success.
