We recently connected with Bo Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Bo, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I learned early in life that the optimism and belief are some of the most important attributes a person can have. When I was growing up, one of my favorite sayings was “you cant control everything that happens to you in life, but you can control your attitude about it.” I feel that i have always tried to make the best out of any situation, and that has suited me well so far!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an independent country musician from Central Texas. With this title comes wearing multiple hats, including booking manager, advertising manager, band manager, merch manager, social media guru, tax professional, and of course being a musician. I spend 90% of my time woking on the business aspect of my career, which includes booking shows, getting my band organized, and networking with other like minded individuals. The other 10% is the really fun part, writing songs and playing them for people! I love everyday of this journey and my dream is to switch full time soon. We currently have a single in the pipeline called “Smooth” that should hit all streaming platforms soon, so y’all please go give it a listen when it comes out!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The first would be learning to love the music. I think that one of the main things that keeps me exited to do this is how much I love country music. If I ever feel discouraged, a few songs on the jukebox will get me feeling like its brand new again, I just want to create more great country music for people to listen to and fall in love with like I did. the second would me learning how to network. This is an ongoing process for me, but I think that a lot of success in this industry comes from who you know and how your personal skills are. Lastly, I learned that the music industry is a big business, and if you want to increase your chances of success, you will need to have some business knowledge. To anyone early in their country music journey, 1. love the music, 2. meet your people 3. know your business!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The biggest obstacle I am facing right now is getting my music in front of country music lovers. As many artists do, I have had trouble booking my band for live shows. I am currently revising my contacting strategies and business skills to be able to grab peoples attention in order to want to book us. I think we have great songs and a great sound, but I just need to figure out how to get folks to hear it!
