Meet Gabriel Rice

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gabriel Rice a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I got my resilience from my late grandmother Frances Sanders. My grandmother was literally my best friend! They say life doesn’t come with a manual but that can’t be true because she definitely had life’s manual. Everything that I know, everything that I am was because of my upbringing by her. She instilled so much in me before her passing

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am Gabriel and I am an entrepreneur. I started my own hair care business (Naturally Kinkz) in 2016. Naturally Kinkz is an all natural hair care product line for men, women and kids that consist of shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, hair growth oil, beard oil, hair moisturizer and edge control. I am also a author. I’m looking forward to introducing more projects involving my journalism.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
You have to have Strong leadership skills (leaders are born, not made), you have to be highly self motivated because when you can’t count on no one else you have to count on yourself to be all the motivation you need. Willingness to fail and get back up again, and a strong sense of ethics and integrity was most impactful for me in this journey. My advice to anybody who wants to become an entrepreneur is to “write it down and bring it to life.”

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents showed me anything is possible just give it time. I’ve literally watch them both do what I thought was impossible over time
