Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jodie Duplisea. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jodie, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I hate to say it, but what doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger!
Health has always played a major role in my life. Somehow, I’ve survived a series of unfortunate events—let’s call them near-death accidents—and each time, the recovery process felt impossible. The first one I remember involved me flipping and flying through the air, completely obsessed with becoming the next Nadia Comăneci, the famous gymnast from the 1970s. I did this constantly—until one day, I wasn’t so lucky. A bad fall nearly left me paralyzed, and I spent years in recovery. It was slow. It was painful. But it taught me patience, perseverance, and a deep fascination with the incredible things the human body can do when given the right care and dedication. That faith in recovery pulled me through many other accidents as well.
A lot of my resilience comes from a deep connection to myself at a soul level. Experiencing so much physical pain at a young age forced me onto a healing path—mind, body, and spirit. I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with amazing teachers and healers, and through it all, I’ve discovered something unshakable: no matter what tragedy happens, the core of my being is always intact.
I believe resilience is about surrendering to the natural rhythm of life—letting go of the past, accepting truth as it is, and using that understanding to move forward. Staying present and fully embracing who I am allows me to bounce back from anything.
The mindset I developed from healing my body—the discipline, the resilience, the unwavering belief in recovery—is the same mindset I’ve applied to every challenge in my personal and professional life. I also have to say, a little bit of a *fuck-you* attitude doesn’t hurt either!
Holistic Body Worker, Yoga Guide, Health Researcher, Natural Health Advocate and Coach.
My career has evolved over the years, but the focus has always been on health and well-being. After recovering my own health, I felt a deep need to share what I had learned. I started out working in public health, conducting research for governmental organizations, and later founded a nonprofit wellness center. But in the end, my true passion is helping people feel *fabulous*!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My work is all about guiding others toward feeling better in their bodies and minds—whether through yoga, bodywork, or simple, nourishing lifestyle shifts. I’m lucky to split my time between Mexico in the winter and Canada in the summer, where I offer personalized yoga sessions, theta meditations, dietary guidance, and bodywork treatments designed to meet each person’s unique needs. I also run wellness retreats, which I absolutely love. There’s something so powerful about creating space for people to reset, reconnect, and truly come back to themselves.
One of my absolute favorite moments is seeing my clients faces transform after a session—so many times, they walk in carrying stress, pain, or exhaustion, and by the end, they look completely new, lighter, and more at peace. That’s what keeps me inspired.
Giving back is also a huge part of my journey. I’ve done a lot of volunteer work in Canada as well as in a few countries. I love the raja yoga teachings of service and have given free education and wellness services to many in need. I knew how fortunate I was with my education and feel the need to give back. I’m proud to be part of the non-profit wellness centre and I’ve created a free healing library on YouTube and thousands of people were able to heal themselves.
One of my greatest passions is water therapy—it’s truly a mystical and divine form of healing. There’s something almost otherworldly about the way warm water, fluid movements, and deep relaxation come together. The combination of sensory deprivation and the freedom to move without gravity’s pull allows the brain to release trauma, while the body and mind undergo profound healing. The experience is deeply nurturing—like being cradled in pure love—leaving the receiver in a blissful, almost transcendent state.
I believe water therapy has the power to transform lives, and my dream is to expand this work, bringing it to wellness centers around the world so more people can experience its incredible benefits and find their optimal health.
For me, wellness isn’t just about feeling good—it’s about reclaiming joy, movement, and balance in life, and I’m grateful every day to be able to help others do just that. Looking back, three things have had the biggest impact on my journey: being my authentic self, working hard, and thinking outside the box.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being true to myself has been key. I’ve learned that the more I embrace who I really am—without trying to fit into anyone else’s expectations—the more aligned and fulfilling my path becomes. Hard work is another big one. Healing, building a business, being a mom, and creating the life you want all take effort, but if you’re willing to put in the work, the rewards are incredible. And thinking outside the box has helped me find creative solutions, whether it’s traveling, designing unique wellness sessions, raising my son, finding new ways to help people, or making my dreams happen in unexpected ways.
For anyone starting out, my best advice is: just start. Don’t overthink it. Even if you’re not sure exactly what you want, take a step forward. Things don’t have to be perfect when you begin—you’ll figure things out along the way. The most important thing is to keep going, it’s all a process and your projects progress over time. And surround yourself with inspiring friends and people who lift you up. The right energy around you makes all the difference. I’d love to collaborate with people who are passionate about improving both human health and the health of our environment. When I had my nonprofit, one of the projects that really touched my heart helped elevate the education of single mothers in a few developing countries. I was able to offer free massage and yoga training, giving them the skills to support their families while also improving the well-being of their communities. It was life changing as much as for myself as for the mothers. It showed me how easy it is to build relationships based on compassion and caring and that it is possible to live outside of the box.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
My hope is to continue that kind of heartfelt healing work, and I’d love to connect with others who share a similar vision. My dream is to set up water therapy pools in wellness retreats and clinics and train local single moms in this incredible healing modality. Water therapy is pure magic—it offers the deepest level of healing, both physically and emotionally. I would love to collaborate with wellness clinics and retreat centers that are looking to add this healing modality to their services. If you’re interested in working together, whether to support this vision or bring water therapy to your space, I’d love to connect!
