We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paul Dickens . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paul below.
Paul , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
By being myself at all times while being able to adapt to my surroundings.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a Chef and now food truck owner that loves to satisfy people’s appetite with my simple, but flavorful culinary skills.
I’m always trying to reinvent myself in a career field where creativity and skill set is forever evolving.
In 2025 we are looking to get more involve in many of the big events that the city has to offer; giving us a chance introduce ourselves to not only the locals, but also the visitors that travel in and out of Indianapolis.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Creative, work ethic, and attention to detail!
Don’t be afraid to try new things.
There are many different food items and cultures in the world so try not to put yourself in a box. Jump out there and start creating and experimenting as much as you can!
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My WIFE!!
This is a career that requires a lot of your time, but since day one, my wife has been my biggest supporter, employee, and motivator when I have those moments of giving up or just overwhelming days when it fills like I just can’t push through.
