We recently connected with Pamela and have shared our conversation below.
Pamela, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
As a self-employed beauty therapist building your business is not easy, developing confidence and self-esteem is crucial—not just in my skills but also in running and growing my brand – Peachfur. It has taken a number of years personally and professionally to build confidence over time by mastering my craft, handling challenges, and promoting myself effectively.
One of the most important steps in building my confidence is to continuously improving my skills. Investing in ongoing education, such as courses, masterclasses, and workshops, helps to stay ahead of beauty trends and enhances my expertise. Consistently practicing and refining techniques ensures that top-quality services are delivered, ensuring that I feel more secure in my abilities. Seeking feedback from clients and using it to improve also boosts my confidence, as it reassures that my work meets high standards. I am a true perfectionist and give my work my all for my clients. Only the best will do!
Building a strong reputation is another key factor in boosting self-esteem. Providing exceptional customer service helps clients feel valued, increasing their loyalty and encouraging repeat business. Showcasing my work on social media not only builds credibility but also attracts new clients. Asking for reviews and testimonials further enhances my reputation and make potential clients feel more confident in choosing my services.
Overcoming self-doubt is truly part of my journey. It’s essential to remember that every successful beauty therapist started somewhere. Confidence grows with experience, and setbacks should be viewed as learning opportunities rather than failures. When doubt creeps in, I always like to remind myself of past successes and how far I’ve come.
Handling difficult clients and situations is another area where confidence plays a role. Setting clear boundaries ensures that I maintain professionalism and avoid burnout. Knowing your worth is equally important— I never undervalue my services or allow clients to take advantage of discounts. When dealing with complaints or tricky requests, I reflect, practice calm and confident communication to help resolve issues effectively while maintaining my reputation.
Marketing myself with confidence is also crucial to growth. Stepping outside my comfort zone to promote my business, both online and offline, is essential. Networking and collaborating with other beauty professionals and businesses leads to referrals and collaborations, which can help expand my client base. Most importantly, owning my expertise and speaking proudly about my skills is an attractive quality.
Finally, I like to take good care of myself. I do feel that it is vital to maintaining confidence and self-esteem. Prioritizing self-care prevents burnout and maintains energy levels. Staying organized and setting realistic goals can reduce feelings of overwhelm, making my business journey more enjoyable.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
That is a difficult question as there are certainly more than three!
1. Client Compassion & Care
Caring for my clients. When my clients come to Peachfur’s for a treatment, I feel that it is so important to care, to listen, to understand their needs and then provide the best treatment for their needs, with the best treatment plan, and all with some kindness, and tender, loving, care. In my opinion, not only life-limiting illnesses, cancer, and menopause-related skin concerns requires deep compassion, patience, and adaptability. Everyone regradless of their age, gender, background deserve the highest level of treatment and care. Life can be stressful, and my salon offers sanctuary from the harsh stressors in life.
A. Personalized Emotional Support
For everyone who walks through my doors, I take the time to understand my client’s emotional and physical state before each treatment. I do this by using empathetic communication, ensuring they feel seen and heard. In addition, I offer gentle reassurance—many clients may feel self-conscious about changes in their skin, hair loss, or scarring.
B. Adaptability & Comfort in Treatment
I feel that it is important to provide customized, non-invasive therapies that prioritize relaxation and comfort (e.g., gentle lymphatic drainage for fluid retention from cancer treatments).
Use soothing touch—even small gestures like a warm towel or light scalp massage can enhance their experience.
Be flexible with positioning and treatment modifications for clients who may have mobility limitations or experience pain.
C. Ongoing Client Education & Support
At Peachfur’s I like to offer guidance on at-home skincare routines with safe, non-irritating products for sensitive or compromised skin which have a superb reputation. In addition, it is important to provide realistic expectations on what skincare can achieve, especially for those experiencing hormonal changes, medical side effects, or advanced aging.
I like to connect clients with support resources, such as oncologists, dermatologists, or holistic wellness practitioners when needed. Referrals are key to a treatment plan to ensure that my client’s are getting the results that they strive for,
2. Excelled Results for Skin
Your expertise in aesthetic treatments means clients look to me for results, even when dealing with challenging skin conditions. To achieve optimal skin health, focus on:
A. Advanced Skin Therapy Techniques
Offer treatments tailored to fragile or reactive skin, such as:
Oncology-safe facials with gentle, hydrating, and anti-inflammatory ingredients.
LED Light Therapy for wound healing and calming redness.

B. Medical-Grade & Holistic Skincare Solutions
Choose products with barrier-repairing ingredients like:
Hyaluronic Acid & Glycerin for hydration.
Niacinamide & Panthenol for barrier repair.
Aloe Vera & Oat Extract for soothing irritation.
Avoid harsh exfoliation or aggressive peels for clients with compromised skin.
C. Long-Term Skin Health & Results
Focus on progress, not perfection—especially for clients dealing with post-treatment skin trauma, scarring, or extreme dryness.
Educate clients on sun protection, as skin is often more sensitive post-cancer treatment or during hormonal shifts.
Encourage internal wellness, emphasizing hydration, proper nutrition, and stress management for skin health.
3. Knowledgeability in Your Field
Staying ahead in aesthetics requires continuous learning, credibility, and being a trusted resource for your clients.
A. Specialized Certifications & Continuing Education

Hormonal Skin Expertise to address perimenopausal/menopausal changes effectively.
Advanced Modalities (like microneedling, LED therapy, or lymphatic drainage) to expand your service range.
B. Staying Updated with Industry Trends
Keep up with emerging skincare technology, such as peptides, exosome therapy, and regenerative skincare.
Follow dermatologists, medical aesthetic professionals, and industry leaders for new research.
Engage in professional networks and conferences to refine your expertise.
C. Educating & Empowering Your Clients
Be a trusted authority by explaining skin conditions and treatments in an easy-to-understand way.
Offer content (blog posts, social media tips) on skincare tailored to sensitive or medically affected skin.
Build strong client relationships through ongoing check-ins, follow-ups, and personalized skincare plans.
On a whole: I like to balance compassionate care, skin transformation, and expert knowledge I feel that this is important as makes my skills an invaluable asset to my clients. By focusing on these areas, you not only provide exceptional service but also empower your clients to feel confident and cared for, no matter their skin challenges. As a therapist, for me, that is what matters the most.
