We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Mackin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Danielle, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I find creativity everywhere – shows I’ve watched, driving and seeing an image or sunset, or from other likeminded creatives.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Art through varying mediums has always been a passion of mine; jewelry making, “hood fab” carpentry, basic painting, and crafting were and still are a part of me. Most recently added – Resin Art. It began with the support and help from my little sister. During the pandemic I wanted to upcycle a side table and I wanted it to be unique. I had some old bottle caps saved; I drew things that represented me and my family, purchased some other materials, had my sister print quotes for me and then I coated the table with resin. From there, I resined my countertops and then my creativity grew. I’ve always wanted to make my mark on the world and what better way to do so than through art. As a I incorporate what I’ve learned through my journey I, using epoxy resin as a base, create custom wall art, charcuterie boards, nostalgic games, artisan bowls, vases, and more.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities/skills that have made an impact on my success: I luv challenges; when someone tells me “I can’t.” It pushes me harder, not to prove them wrong but, to prove to myself that I can; being open minded, be a student always and listen to varying points of view; and, I have learned with art, especially resin, there is no right or wrong way – studying other methods are okay but, knowing what works for you will always be the right way.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
I luv doing festivals however comma I would luv to venture with small businesses boutique hotels, interior designers, and art enthusiasts.
