We recently connected with AJ Lott and have shared our conversation below.
AJ, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
Self discipline is a key factor in achieving success, but it’s not something that appears overnight. For me, it’s been shaped by my faith, routines and the responsibilities I balance as a mom wife and entrpreneur. The struggles I had growing up isn’t something I want to be passed down to my kids and generations ahead. Breaking generational cycles.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Im a fashion, beauty and lifestyle influencer. My journey started with a passion for self expression through style and confidence, but it’s grown into something much bigger. A platform where Im able to inspire others to embrace who they are, inside and out.
What exited me more about what I do is the ability to connect with others on a deeper level. I understand the struggles that come from body image because I’ve experienced them myself. Ive been in a size XL, Large, Medium and now a small in clothing. THAT journey has given me a unique perspective on self-love, confidence and the importance of feeling good in your own skin. When I’m sharing fashion finds, beauty tips or ideas, a word of encouragement, my goal is always to uplift and empower others.
I want people to know that beauty is more then just aesthetics, its about how you carry yourself and the energy you bring, and the impact you make. My art is in creativity and helping others see the best in themselves. Im building a community that values authenticity, and personal growth.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Don’t be afraid to mess up. It’s apart of growing and learning. Be authentically yourself, people connect with realness not perfection, and be ok with change. The industry, trends, social media algorithms change all the time.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
The advice I would give is remember your why. Why you started in the first place, understand challenges arise but instead of giving up, push through because thats when change and growth happens. Look at challenges like an opportunity. Also don’t be afraid to ask for help! You can learn a lot from others. So reach out and connect with those who are like-minded.
