We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Corinn Blanton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Corinn, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from a deep understanding of what it feels like to need support, comfort, or simply to be seen. Throughout my life, there were many times I wished I had someone who truly understood me—someone who could step in with kindness, offer a helping hand, or just make me feel valued. Those moments shaped me, making me more in tune with what others might need or want. When I sense someone feeling alone, overwhelmed, or unheard, it triggers something in me to step in and do what I can to make them feel loved and desired. Whether it’s through small gestures or bigger acts of kindness, I want people to feel warmth and cared for. I believe that generosity isn’t just about giving things—it’s about making people feel seen, supported, and worthy. If I can offer that, even in a small way, it feels like a way of healing not just them, but also the parts of me that once needed the same.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Flour + Flora was born out of my passion for wholesome, clean living and my desire to create something meaningful while still being fully present as a mom. I specialize in baking with freshly milled flour and all-organic ingredients, bringing a depth of flavor and nutrition that’s hard to find in store-bought goods. Alongside my baked goods, I also craft non-toxic, natural home and beauty products—things I originally started making for my own family when I couldn’t find products that met my standards. What started as a personal journey to provide the best for my loved ones has grown into a business that allows me to share that same level of care with others. The most exciting part is seeing people appreciate the difference that real, clean ingredients make, whether in a warm loaf of bread or a simple bottle of vanilla extract. As Flour + Flora continues to grow, I’m focused on expanding into more local markets, offering pre-orders, and getting my products into more small and local businesses that share my values. It’s been an incredible journey, and I love that I get to do something I’m passionate about while keeping my role as a wife and mother at the heart of it all.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resourcefulness, perseverance, and a deep commitment to quality. Resourcefulness has allowed me to create solutions when I couldn’t find what I needed—whether that was learning to bake with freshly milled flour, formulating non-toxic household products, or finding ways to grow my business while still prioritizing my family. Perseverance has been key in navigating the challenges of running a business, especially while balancing motherhood. There have been setbacks and moments of doubt and pure exhaustion, but staying committed to my vision has kept me moving forward. And above all, my dedication to quality—using the best organic ingredients and crafting products with intention—has been the foundation of Flour + Flora’s success.
For those just starting out, my advice is to stay curious and open to learning. You don’t have to know everything at the beginning—embrace trial and error, trust your instincts, and keep improving as you go. Second, remember that consistency is more important than speed. Growth takes time, and perseverance will carry you through the tough moments. Lastly, never compromise on your standards or your “why.” If you’re passionate about what you do and stay true to your values, your work will naturally resonate with the right people.
