Meet Emily Veak

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Veak. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily below.

Emily, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

My path to becoming a hypnotist actually began in the field of psychiatric care. I started as a behavioral health technician and later worked as a program therapist at an Eating Recovery Center for children and adolescents. Eventually, I transitioned to a role as a Behavioral Health Specialist at the Children’s Hospital. During that time, my plan was to pursue a doctorate in psychology — but something about that path never quite felt like the right fit.

The turning point came when I met my friend Justin, a fellow hypnotist with Mind Will Heal. He guided me through a hypnosis journey that was truly transformative. For the first time, I felt deeply connected to my body and was able to revisit past memories with a sense of clarity and healing that I hadn’t experienced before.

I had spent over a decade in and out of talk therapy, and while it helped in many ways, I still struggled with the physical symptoms of depression and anxiety. Despite all my efforts, I just didn’t feel well. But after that hypnosis session, something shifted — and I knew I had found a new path forward.

That powerful experience led me to enroll at the Alchemy Institute of Hypnosis, and from that moment on, I never looked back. Now, I’m honored to help others find their own breakthroughs — whether that’s through emotional clearing, inner child work, past life regression, or simply reconnecting with themselves in a meaningful way. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m deeply grateful to be doing this work.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My practice focuses on helping people access their subconscious mind to heal, grow, and gain clarity — especially in ways that traditional talk therapy sometimes can’t reach. I specialize in emotional clearing for trauma, inner child work, past life regression, somatic healing, and guiding people toward self-acceptance and personal transformation. I also support clients in strengthening relationships, overcoming addiction, and unlocking creative potential.

As a queer woman, I’m especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, helping them navigate self-acceptance, identity exploration, and healing from past experiences of rejection or internalized shame. Having walked that path myself, I know how powerful subconscious healing can be in reclaiming authenticity and confidence.

What makes my practice unique is my deeply personalized approach. Each session is tailored to meet clients exactly where they are, blending intuition, science, and spirituality to create a healing experience that’s both meaningful and effective. Hypnosis isn’t just about relaxation or suggestion — it’s about creating deep, lasting change by working directly with the subconscious mind.

I’m incredibly proud of the safe, welcoming space I’ve built for my clients — a space where they can release old wounds, reconnect with their inner child, or rediscover their creative spark. My goal is always to empower people to embrace their most authentic selves.

Recently, I’ve expanded my offerings to include group workshops, which I co-facilitate with my dear friend Sam Herrendorf (Facilitated Movement). These workshops combine movement and guided hypnosis, offering a unique way for participants to connect with their bodies and minds in a deeply healing way.

For those interested, I offer in-person sessions in Denver at Nurture Wellcare Marketplace (Tuesday–Thursday) and virtual sessions for clients anywhere (Monday–Friday, with some weekend availability). I also provide free 15-minute consultations for anyone curious to learn more. If you’re feeling called to explore, heal, and grow, I’d love to support you on that journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, there are three key qualities that have been especially impactful in my journey: vulnerability, adaptability, and connection.

Vulnerability has been crucial. Before I could guide others through their healing, I had to be willing to face my own. Doing the deep inner work — confronting my own pain, limiting beliefs, and past trauma — was essential. It helped me connect more authentically with my clients and gave me the emotional strength to hold space for their experiences. For anyone starting in this field, I believe the most powerful work begins with healing yourself first.

Adaptability has been equally important. Whether I was shifting career paths or adjusting my approach in a session, learning to trust my intuition and remain flexible allowed me to meet each client’s unique needs. Growth in this field often requires stepping outside your comfort zone — exploring new techniques, challenging old patterns, and embracing change. The more adaptable you are, the more impactful your work will be.

Connection has played a major role in building my practice. While honing my skills was important, putting myself out there was just as vital. Meeting other practitioners, collaborating with peers, and connecting with potential clients allowed my business to grow in unexpected and meaningful ways. For those starting out, I’d encourage embracing opportunities to network — not just for visibility, but for the support and inspiration that comes from building relationships with like-minded people.

My biggest advice for anyone on their own path is to stay open — open to your own healing, open to change, and open to the connections that can shape your journey. Each of these qualities has helped me create a practice that feels purposeful and fulfilling, and I believe they can do the same for others.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m always excited to collaborate, especially with those in complementary healing and wellness practices. I’d love to connect with movement practitioners like yoga instructors, energy healers such as Reiki practitioners, and sound healers to create powerful mind-body experiences.

I’ve also partnered with journal groups, guiding participants through group hypnosis sessions to deepen their reflection and inspire meaningful journal prompts. Collaborations like these are such a beautiful way to blend practices, introduce people to hypnosis in a supportive group setting, and connect with potential clients.

If you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to hear from you! Whether you have an established practice or are brainstorming new ideas, I’m always open to creating something special together. You can reach me through my website or social media (@opalescenthypnosis) — I’d be thrilled to chat about ways we can support each other’s work.
