We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeff Zeigler a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jeff with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from a number of sources. For starters,my grandmother, mother, father and grandfathers were very diligent folks and there legacies have inspired me. Also, my friend Will Lyons encouraged me to have a good work ethic. Nowadays, my friend Daryl motivates me to not procrastinate, stay focused and have a sense of spirituality.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been creating art for awhile, so I would like folks to know that I have a lot of paintings and mixed media work, which is for showing and sale. I currently have a website with more information and that is www.jeffzeiglerart.com I am currently showing with the Savannah Art Association and I have a piece up at Coffee Deli in Savannah GA. Additionally, I have some of my work showing at my church Unity of Savannah. I plan on showing more art at various locations, later this year. Also I’ve worked professionally in the addictive disease treatment and mental health disorder treatment field for nine years . I am actively pursuing my LPC at the moment . I work for a local treatment provider .
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I have had good and bad times with both art and life, and I believe these experiences were equally important. For starters I’ve had friends who nurtured my artistic development and this was important. Also, in highschool I had an art teacher who had creative differences with me. All of these individuals helped shape me and allowed me to grow in varying areas. Also from an educational and working standpoint it hasn’t always been easy, but it has all helped me to grow wiser.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would like to continue to show art in different venues. This includes galleries, museums, studios, restaurants and coffee shops,as well as other places where the walls speak to me in order to show my work there. I want to continue to be an artist among artists and worker among workers. I want to continue to work where I am employed and be able to share with my family, friends and the community.
