Meet Jamie O’Neill

We were lucky to catch up with Jamie O’Neill recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jamie , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I’d love to say I was born with it, but the truth is, my resilience was forged in the fire of my struggles. Life didn’t hand me an easy script—I had to rewrite my story more times than I can count. Growing up, I faced challenges that could have broken me: early trauma, addiction, toxic relationships, and hitting rock bottom in ways that most people only read about. But every time I fell, something inside me refused to stay down.

I think resilience comes from a mix of survival instinct and an unshakable belief that there has to be more to life than pain. I got tired of being the victim of my own story, so I chose to be the hero instead. My journey toward healing and self-discovery wasn’t about avoiding hardships—it was about learning how to rise stronger every time they came. And now, I use that resilience to help others find their own strength, because if I can crawl out of the darkness and create a life filled with purpose, anyone can.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I wear a lot of hats, but at the heart of everything I do is the desire to help people heal, grow, and discover their purpose. I’m an author, spiritual life coach, tarot reader, and founder of Skull Sugar Cosmetics, a brand that prioritizes safe, high-quality makeup. I also run Silver Moon Holistic, where I offer one-on-one spiritual and healing coaching, tarot, oracle readings, and health and nutrition guidance. My work is all about transformation—whether it’s helping someone find their confidence through makeup, guiding them through a spiritual awakening, or showing them how to turn their pain into power.

What makes my journey unique is that I’ve lived through the struggles I now help others overcome. I’ve battled addiction, survived trauma, and walked through my own dark night of the soul. I know what it feels like to be lost, and I also know what it takes to rebuild yourself from the ground up. My work is deeply personal, and I bring that raw, real-life experience into everything I do.

Right now, I’m gearing up for the release of my next book, Journey of My Soul: A Path to Self-Discovery and Empowerment, which launches as an e-book on June 10, 2025, and in print on June 24, 2025. This book is designed to help people reconnect with their inner truth and find their soul’s purpose. I’m also expanding my Journey of My Soul Oracle Deck, a project that aligns with my mission to offer people tools for self-reflection and empowerment.

Beyond that, I’m stepping into the world of public speaking, where I’ll be sharing my story and helping others navigate their own healing and growth. And, of course, Skull Sugar Cosmetics continues to evolve, always staying true to the values that started it all: beauty that’s bold, safe, and empowering.

At the end of the day, everything I do—whether it’s writing, coaching, or creating products—is about helping people see their own strength. If my journey can inspire even one person to keep going, then I know I’m on the right path.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities had the biggest impact on my journey: resilience, self-awareness, and the ability to pivot. Each of these played a major role in helping me transform my life, and if I could give advice to anyone just starting their own journey, it would be this:
1. Resilience: Life will knock you down. That’s not a possibility—it’s a guarantee. What matters is how you get back up. I didn’t build resilience by avoiding hardship; I built it by surviving it. The key is to stop seeing failure as the end and start seeing it as feedback. Every setback is a lesson. To develop resilience, get comfortable with discomfort, challenge yourself daily (even in small ways), and remind yourself that every struggle you face is shaping you into someone stronger.
2. Self-Awareness: You can’t fix what you refuse to acknowledge. For years, I ran from my truth—numbing my pain, blaming others, and avoiding the real work. It wasn’t until I started getting honest with myself that real change happened. If you want to develop self-awareness, start with reflection. Journal your thoughts, question your own patterns, and be brutally honest with yourself about what’s working and what’s not. And don’t be afraid to seek outside perspectives—whether from a mentor, a coach, or even therapy. The more you understand yourself, the more power you have to change your life.
3. The Ability to Pivot: Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Actually, it almost never does. If you cling too tightly to one path, you’ll miss out on the opportunities that come from redirection. I started in sales and customer service, then moved into makeup artistry, then aesthetics, then spiritual coaching, writing, and now public speaking. Each pivot led me closer to my true purpose. My advice? Stay open. If something isn’t working, have the courage to adjust. The ability to pivot isn’t about quitting—it’s about recognizing when a new path is calling and having the guts to take it.

For anyone at the beginning of their journey, be patient with yourself. Growth isn’t linear, and you’re allowed to change your mind, make mistakes, and take detours. Just don’t stop moving forward. Every step—no matter how small—is still progress.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who is ready—ready to heal, ready to grow, and ready to do the work. I don’t sugarcoat things, and I don’t offer quick fixes. Whether I’m coaching, reading tarot, or guiding someone through a transformation, my best clients are those who are willing to face their truth, take accountability, and step into their power.

The ideal client for me is:
   •   Open-minded: They may not have all the answers (who does?), but they’re willing to explore new perspectives and trust the process.
   •   Seeking deeper meaning: Whether they’re feeling lost, stuck, or disconnected, they have a deep desire to understand themselves on a soul level.
   •   Willing to take action: Growth requires effort. I love working with people who are ready to implement changes rather than just talk about them.
   •   Emotionally honest: Healing starts with truth. My ideal client is willing to look at their own patterns and do the inner work—even when it’s uncomfortable.
   •   Spiritually curious: They don’t have to be fully immersed in spirituality, but they’re open to intuitive guidance, tarot, or alternative healing modalities.
   •   Done with BS: They’re tired of repeating the same cycles, making the same mistakes, or settling for less than they deserve. They’re ready to break patterns and build a life that actually feels aligned.

Whether they come to me for spiritual coaching, tarot readings, or guidance through their personal transformation, I work best with people who are ready to step into their authenticity and reclaim their power. I don’t coddle, but I do guide with compassion, humor, and realness—because growth should be transformative, but it doesn’t have to be miserable.
