We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Morales a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
As a petite Latina and immigrant, my journey has been filled with challenges — yet those obstacles fueled my determination to prove that beauty isn’t defined by size, background, or circumstances.
I aim to empower women of all sizes, colors, and backgrounds to pursue their dreams, proving that resilience and representation matter. I’d like to use my platform to bring awareness and break boundaries within the fashion industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Andrea Morales, a Guatemalan-born, U.S.-raised model determined to break barriers in high fashion. As a petite talent, my goal is to redefine industry norms. Within last year I have walked over 20 runways, signing with two U.S. agencies, and earning international representation in Germany. But beyond any achievements, my mission is to inspire. As a DACA recipient, now more than ever I feel a responsibility to stand up and bring awareness to the injustices going on in our world today. I want women of all sizes, skin tones, and backgrounds to see that their dreams are valid — no matter where they come from or what obstacles they face. My journey is proof that representation matters, and I’m committed to paving the way for others to feel seen, valued, and empowered.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience, self-confidence, and adaptability.
No one will believe in you if you don’t. This realization wholeheartedly led me to where I am today. You may never be “the perfect person”. Train your mind to overcome obstacles. To not only see but believe in your power is the first step. Chase your goal/dream relentlessly. Everything else will follow. Learn to adapt and place yourself in new situations. You may surprise yourself and gain more confidence in the process. Flexibility and adaptation go hand in hand with professionalism in this industry. But above all believe in yourself. On paper, I was never meant to be here. What makes you different is what makes you, embrace it. Above all, stay true to your purpose. For me, representing immigrant youth and women of all backgrounds drives everything I do — and that clarity has kept me grounded through every challenge and allowed me to understand this is a purpose greater than myself.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m absolutely looking to collaborate with others who share my vision and values. I’m especially interested in partnering with high-end fashion brands and industry leaders who are committed to pushing boundaries and redefining beauty standards. Additionally, I’m eager to connect with creatives, organizations, and individuals who are passionate about inclusivity, representation, and empowering women of all backgrounds.
If you’re aligned with these values and are interested in collaborating, I’d love to hear and to connect with you. Let’s create impactful work that inspires and drives change.
