We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Camille Gonzales. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Camille below.
Hi Camille , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from the journey of building my photography business from the ground up these last 6 years. When I started Cami Grace Photography at 16 years old, I quickly learned that success doesn’t come overnight. I’ve faced challenges like navigating a competitive industry, learning how to market myself, and balancing creativity with business strategy. Each challenge has pushed me to adapt, problem-solve, and keep going even when things felt uncertain. The passion I have for capturing meaningful moments keeps me motivated, and the trust my clients place in me reinforces my drive to keep improving and evolving! Knowing that my work can bring happiness, confidence, and nostalgia to others is what drives me every day. I also believe that creativity is limitless, and that keeps me looking forward to new opportunities, new clients, and new ways to grow. No matter what challenges come my way, I know that every experience adds to my journey and makes my business stronger.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, but what started as a creative outlet quickly grew into something much bigger. I founded Cami Grace Photography to capture meaningful moments in a way that feels authentic, timeless, and personal. Specializing in weddings, portraits, and lifestyle photography, I focus on telling stories through my lens—preserving emotions, connections, and memories that people will cherish forever.
What excites me most about my work is the ability to make people feel confident, beautiful, and seen. Whether it’s a bride on her wedding day, a graduating senior celebrating a milestone, or a brand looking to elevate its visual identity, I love creating imagery that resonates and leaves a lasting impact.
Beyond photography, I’m passionate about building a brand that goes beyond just taking pictures. I love connecting with my clients on a deeper level, making the experience just as special as the final images. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my work, taking on new creative projects, and continuously refining my craft to offer my clients the best experience possible.
I’m so grateful to do what I love and to have the opportunity to share my journey. My goal is to continue growing Cami Grace Photography while staying true to my vision—capturing moments that are both beautiful and meaningful.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey with Cami Grace Photography, these three qualities have been especially impactful: adaptability, connection, and storytelling.
Adaptability – Photography, like any creative field, is constantly evolving. Whether it’s keeping up with new trends, learning new editing techniques, or adjusting to unexpected challenges during a shoot, being adaptable has allowed me to grow and refine my work. My advice for those starting out is to embrace change and never stop learning. Take workshops, follow industry leaders, and be open to experimenting with new styles.
Connection – Building genuine relationships with my clients has been just as important as mastering my craft. Understanding their vision, making them feel comfortable, and creating an experience rather than just a service has set my work apart. For those early in their journey, I’d encourage prioritizing relationships—whether it’s networking with other creatives or simply making clients feel valued. Word-of-mouth and personal connections can take you far.
Storytelling – A great photo is more than just a pretty picture; it tells a story. Learning how to capture raw emotions, natural moments, and unique details has helped me create work that resonates on a deeper level. I recommend studying not just photography but also visual storytelling—watch films, analyze magazine spreads, and pay attention to how light, composition, and expression come together to create emotion.
For anyone just starting, my biggest piece of advice is to stay passionate, stay patient, and stay consistent. Growth takes time, but if you keep showing up, refining your skills, and staying true to your creative vision, your work will speak for itself.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
As a wedding photographer, my ideal clients are the ones who are ready to have fun, be present, and embrace the real, unfiltered moments of their wedding day. They aren’t just looking for posed perfection—they also want photos that capture the joy, excitement, and genuine emotions that make their love story unique.
I love working with couples who value creativity and trust the process, allowing me to document their day in a way that feels natural and effortless. Whether it’s laughing with their best friends, tearing up during heartfelt vows, or dancing like no one’s watching, they want their photos to reflect the energy and emotion of the day.
At the core, my ideal clients see photography as more than just pictures—they see it as a way to relive the best moments of their lives, exactly as they happened. And that’s what I love capturing most.
