We were lucky to catch up with CJ Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi CJ, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I credit my resilience to God. He has taught me the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity. Through life lessons, He guides me to stay strong even when things get tough, always encouraging me to keep going and create solutions rather than giving up. His example of unwavering strength, love, and determination in difficult times has shaped the way I approach challenges, reminding me that no matter how hard life gets, there’s always a way through.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Creative Director from Atlanta, GA, with a management degree from Morehouse College and an MBA from Shorter University. As an esteemed event curator and designer, I enjoy crafting engaging experiences that bring other creatives together to maximize networking in the community through entertainment and multimedia. I also recently developed a clothing line soon to be released, Christoph Garments, known for its unique designs. Inspired by Atlanta’s vibrant culture, I am dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the creative landscape.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As I’m still early in my journey of life and building a legacy, there are impactful skills that I have picked up on along the way. First, networking is very important. You never know who can be the key to help you reach your full potential. You can be only one conversation away from changing the whole perspective of your life. Another skill is being proactive. When you see an opportunity, act on it and get the job done right away. The result always creates a lesson to learn from moving forward. Lastly, being self motivated will always push you closer to your goals. If you don’t believe in yourself & your vision, no one else will.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
One major obstacle that I often face, is the difficulty to stay in the present. So often, we get caught up in working diligently towards our goals, chasing a vision that we have within, sometimes, we lack the time spent on cherishing the current moment in life and where we are in the journey. Taking time to go enjoy nature at the park has really helped me overcome this struggle because I have no choice but to admire the beautiful world we live in. The past is history and the future is certainly a mystery, but the gift of life is truly the present.
