We recently connected with Obiageliaku Anusionwu and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Obiageliaku , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Of all the questions I could have chosen, this is the one that spoke to me the loudest—the one I resisted answering the most. Imposter syndrome is not just a passing doubt or fleeting insecurity. It’s a lingering presence, a quiet voice that whispers, “Am I truly enough?” It has followed me through triumphs and trials, through the moments when I felt unstoppable and those when I questioned my own worth. And yet, here I am, writing this—proof that while I may not have completely silenced that voice, I have learned to rise above it.
The term “overcome” suggests finality, a resolution, an end to the battle. But I don’t believe imposter syndrome is something we simply conquer and leave behind. Instead, I see it as a force we learn to navigate—a tide that ebbs and flows, a shadow that only exists where light is present. And my light is undeniable.
I remind myself, as I remind my clients, my students, my community, and even strangers who cross my path: I am my ancestors’ wildest dreams. Every step I take is a testament to their strength, their sacrifices, their unwavering faith in the future. When imposter syndrome whispers doubt, I counter it with the truth: I am here on purpose. I am here with purpose.
Imposter syndrome thrives in comparison, in measuring ourselves against an unattainable ideal. But I’ve learned that true success isn’t found in the reflection of others—it’s in honoring our own journey. It’s in celebrating the small victories just as much as the grand achievements. It’s in recognizing that failure is not the opposite of success, but an essential part of it.
For years, I kept my struggles, my doubts, my setbacks to myself. I believed that strength meant silence. But then, a simple realization reshaped my perspective: There is a blessing in every lesson. That phrase became my mantra, my breath of fresh air. It freed me from the weight of perfectionism and allowed me to embrace the fluid, unpredictable, yet profoundly beautiful nature of growth.
Even as I write this, I acknowledge the fear that almost held me back—the fear that still tries, at times, to dim my light. But I also recognize the power of community, of connection, of surrounding myself with people who inspire me, challenge me, and remind me of my own brilliance when I momentarily forget. I pour into them, and they pour into me. In that exchange, imposter syndrome loses its grip.
And so, while I may not claim to have fully overcome imposter syndrome, I have mastered the art of rising above it. I have learned to recognize it, to disarm it, to refuse to let it define me. I move forward—not seeking perfection, but embracing purpose. Not measuring myself against impossible standards, but standing firm in my own truth.
A young girl out there—just one girl, somewhere—is watching me. She is waiting to see what’s possible. She is looking for a reason to believe in her own dreams. And if I allow imposter syndrome to hold me back, I risk dimming the light that might have illuminated her path. That alone is reason enough to keep going.
So, I step forward—one bold, imperfect, beautiful step at a time.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My career has brought me to the crossroads of art, sports and digital innovation. As a dedicated tennis coach and mentor, I inspire excellence on and off the court, while my ventures—Soul Sessions and LoveLight Agency—redefine community and opportunity.
At Soul Sessions, I aim to transform the traditional jam session into an immersive, inclusive experience that unites creatives in a space filled with authenticity, love and boundless inspiration. As the founder of LoveLight Agency, I work to champion a diverse range of talent by blending livestreaming, casting, and digital media to open doors for modeling, acting and other artistic endeavors.
Driven by my mission to build connections and empower communities, I believe my career stands as a testament to my commitment to positivity, philanthropy, and purposeful innovation in every field I am involved in.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three Pillars of My Journey: Vision, Resilience, and Community
Looking back on my journey—a path woven with art, sport, and digital innovation—I recognize three essential qualities that have shaped my evolution: vision, resilience, and community. These are not just skills; they are guiding forces that have carried me through every triumph, challenge, and reinvention of self.
Vision: Seeing Beyond the Horizon
Before anything takes form in the physical world, it must first be seen within. Vision is the ability to dream—as I am, Pisces, the Dreamer—beyond limitations, to see not just what is, but what could be. Whether I’m coaching an athlete toward their next breakthrough by helping them fortify their natural talents, curating an immersive Soul Sessions experience where creatives can freely flow with their magic, or amplifying diverse talent through live streaming and LoveLight Agency, my vision consistently bridges gaps, connecting people and sparking collaborations.
For those at the beginning of their journey, I encourage you to cultivate your vision like a sacred fire—feed it with inspiration, protect it from doubt, and allow it to illuminate your path even in uncertain moments. Your dreams are valid. Your ideas are powerful. The world is waiting for what only you can bring.
Resilience: The Art of Rising
Every journey worth taking comes with obstacles, and resilience is what transforms those obstacles into stepping stones. There were moments when doubt crept in, when imposter syndrome tried to convince me that I was not enough, but I have learned that resilience is not about never falling—it is about rising every single time.
Resilience is a muscle that strengthens through practice. It grows when you show up despite fear, when you learn from setbacks rather than being defined by them. For those just starting, understand that failure is not the opposite of success; it is part of the process. Embrace it. Extract the lesson. And then rise again.
Community: The Power of Collective Energy
Nothing truly great is built in isolation. Every milestone in my journey has been shaped by the people who have poured into me, just as I pour into them. Whether through coaching, live streaming, or creative collaboration, I have witnessed firsthand the magic that happens when people come together with shared purpose and authenticity.
For those early in their journey, surround yourself with people who challenge, inspire, and uplift you. Find mentors. Build relationships rooted in reciprocity. When you stand in a circle of like-minded souls, you will find that imposter syndrome quiets, resilience strengthens, and vision expands.
A Final Thought
Vision gives you direction. Resilience gives you the strength to keep moving. Community reminds you that you are never walking alone. These three pillars have shaped my path, and if you embrace them, they will shape yours too.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am constantly collaborating with various creatives, motivators and earth shakers. Streaming content on Bigo Live has enhanced my ability to connect with individuals from a plethora of different backgrounds and cultures. There is something powerful about being able to interact with audiences in real time that streaming on Bigo Live provides—an unfiltered, authentic space where ideas flow freely, stories are shared and meaningful relationships are forged.
Collaboration is the heartbeat of creation, the spark that transforms ideas into movements. I am always open to partnering with visionaries, innovators, and passionate souls who are aligned with purpose—whether in the realms of sports, the arts, digital media, or community-building. I seek those who not only dream but are ready to build, those who believe in the power of authenticity, connection, and shared elevation.
Whether you are a coach, trainer, or mentor dedicated to nurturing growth in others, a creative yearning for a space to be seen and heard, a strategic thinker with resources to help expand transformative initiatives, or a brand looking to amplify diverse voices and emerging brilliance, I welcome the opportunity to co-create something meaningful. If our energies align, let’s explore the possibilities together. You can connect with me through my social media platforms or reach out directly via [email protected]. Let’s turn visions into reality, one collaboration at a time.
