We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lavendar Robishaw. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lavendar below.
Lavendar, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I grew in a small town, in cattle country. I had an awful childhood and was often let down by the system. Lots of abuse, manipulation and neglect. In my teenage years if I had run ins with the police I would be told, “Oh, your so and so’s daughter, might as well send you home. You have it bad enough there.” and they would drop me off at home. I got married at a young age that ended poorly as you can imagine. At the point I set out on my own in an RV and travel around the states until I ran out of money and found myself in the Navy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I started Early on Wednesday podcast at a point in my life, that I felt invisible, a cry out to be heard. In the Navy I was a Master at Arms or Military Police officer for 16 years, getting out of Active duty was an awful transition, I was in a bad marriage and in a bad place in my life. I had a lot of experiences while in the Military ranging anywhere with cryptid encounters, murderers, run in with the cartel, drug busts, dead bodies, and even aliens. I wanted to share my stories and my true crime obsession out there
And of course, Wednesdays, the darkness descends like a shroud, filling you with dread and revealing the horrors that lie hidden. Step into a realm of mystery, conspiracy, and terror, where cryptids and murder roam free. Share your worst nightmares and explore the unknown. No matter what you do, Remember the number 1 rule: for it is never just a mannequin.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When it comes to things that have been impactful in the podcast journey, is opening up to let a complete stranger join me on my podcast. it’s been a year, since my cohost Stacy asked to be a guest on my podcast. Originally, we had just planned on doing a few episodes, we decided that we had liked each other, and we both have similar views and interest and also completely different outlooks, and different lifestyles that makes our banter and episodes that much more entertaining. The next thing would be to keep growing and taking constructive criticism. WE ARE NOT GOOD and we know it, but we are willing to learn and change. The last thing would be to do what you enjoy doing, have fun with the adventure.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did was to stay out of my Adult life when I took the time to heal. I took the time to do the hard work and do the shadow work, therapy. Things for me could have been so different, but I made the hard choice to be a better person then to follow in their footsteps and be terrible human beings.
