Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Susan Foxley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Susan, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
When I was widowed at 30 years old with a 2 and a half year old son, I had to hustle to support our little family, Although, my Father was a very wealthy man, once we left college we were on our own. When I was financially struggling and I would call my Dad for help he would say,”WHAT AM I, A GOD DARN BANKER”? Then he would hand up the phone. Even though I am one of ten children and an identical twin, no one lived near me to help me raise my son. I had to get up and juggle running a business, getting my son to doctors, schools, and other activities, and it was just ME!
Many years ago my spiritual teacher told me to “follow my bliss’. Though were Joseph Campbell’s words. So my bliss was yoga. I went off to India to study yoga and went to massage school because it sounded like a blast, I kept following my bliss. 35 years later I still teach yoga, do bodywork, write books, life coach, and practice hypnotherapy,
My son is now 29 years old and thriving. I prayed he would outgrow his disability through a miracle and that is what happened. I teach many of my clients with disabled family members how to do the same thing through tools I have discovered through desperation by seeing your child suffer, there is no worse pain.
So, I got my work ethic through having no choice with being a single mother and widowed at a young age with no support.
Diamonds grow under pressure, oaks grow in strong winds, lotus flowers grown in mud. I guess I am a diamond, oak, and a lotus!
Thanks for asking!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi! My name is Susan Foxley and I am the CEO of Foxley Fitness LLC. We customize sessions, retreats, workshops, and individual sessions with yoga, life coaching, massage, NLP, and hypnotherapy I have been teaching for over 35 years and have shared my tips and tools through my television shows, blogs, books, and social media.
My mission is to help people thrive emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually through my various modalities for both mind and body!
My favorite tool is my life guide titles, “Mixed Up to Fixed Up in Four Weeks.” We clear and clean negative thought patterns. Plan and plant new thoughts and feelings, Then we witness and watch through meditation, visualization, and the law of attraction. Then we reap and repeat because “yesterday’s shower doesn’t clean us today.
Currently, I am writing my fifth book titled, “The Real Love Diet”. It is about how to master LOVE in ALL areas of your LIFE! I am very excited!
I will be teaching at the YOGA EXPO in Pasadena and at the MINDFULNESS EXPO in Orange County, California. You can find all of that on my website SusanFoxley.com today!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Mastering your THOUGHTS through my mental gentle diet in my life guide.
2. Sometimes we have to ACT ourselves into the right thinking. Move the body everyday with an activity that makes you FEEL good.
3. Remove all resentments and forgive everyone and everything. Don’t give people free rent in your head. We are the landlord of our own minds. One spiritual teachers says ALL illnesses is form lack of forgiveness, Forgive everyone and everything.
4. Follow your bliss.
5. Run your mind so your mind doesn’t run you by taking your M.E.D.S.
-meditation
-exercise
-diet
-sleep
6. Follow your inner whisper or inner compass. Your intuition NEVER lies. “To thine own self be true”!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My current challenge is that I love and care for my clients, friends, and family members. I also love the outdoors and getting on my mat to practice yoga, My biggest obstacle is making time to write. Currently, I am cutting back on my work and prioritizing my time to finish this book, In my books and with my clients I help my cliets get to the “endgame”. What is it that you/we really have the burning desire to do?
I am life coaching myself now and really putting myself FIRST. I cannot pour from an empty cup. I have to fill myself up with self-care, boundaries, passion, and my own goals rather than helping everyone reach theirs first.
I realized this when I was assisting others in manifesting their heart’s desires while neglecting my own desires. I soon got busy using my own tools on myself to manifest a second husband and manifest a healing for my son.
These tools that I use work! Now I am using them in my own life again to “hocus, pocus, focus” on my fifth book and become less of a workaholic to help others (which I LOVE to do by the way). But now it’s time to put the oxygen mask on me and walk the walk.
