Meet Zae Vibez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zae Vibez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zae below.

Zae, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

When I decided to really start loving myself, the confidence and self esteem came with it. It all starts with the wanting to see the light in oneself. Which also comes with confronting the question “Am I really investing my time, attention, and energy in way that I’m proud of?” Once started focusing on that then it’s just practice from there on out. Projecting my voice, walking with my head up, working on my presentation, putting myself out there, etc. Those are a lot of the physical actions but mental training comes first .

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am Zae Vibez, I am an artist in all senses of the word. My preferred mediums of sharing my art are dancing, photography, and poetry. I think these art forms allow me to express myself in a well rounded way. Ultimately I use my art to spread a message of love. Love of life, love of oneself, love for others, love for the good and the bad.

At first all of the art was used to express myself. As time has passed, I’m learning the most special part is to connect with others and help them see their own power. Through that I am changing peoples lives and allowing them to also change my life.

Recently, I choreographed and performed at Rolling Loud with an amazing artist named Tia Corine. I got to hire close friends of mine for the job. Dancing on stage was amazing, but the biggest blessing was the love and energy exchanged. I could tell she loved her craft and the connection that it creates, so it was a match made in heaven.

I also recently published my very first poetry book titled, ‘On the Journey to Peace’. It is such a special work and that has been years in the making. My good friend Heather Andrews-Horton illustrated it.

It’s so cool to see myself bring all of these dreams to fruition. Most importantly it’s amazing to do it so I can give inspiration to whoever is looking at me as an example.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

There are many working parts that make me a great artist but the 3 qualities that have been really impactful for me are optimism, self awareness, and persistence.

Optimism helps me keep my eye on the prize without losing the love for the journey. Self awareness lets me see where I need to improve or pivot so I’m mentally, emotionally, and physically thriving. Persistence is the reason why I am here. Never letting anything stop me from my dreams.

If you are early in your journey, please speak life into yourself. Stay positive because sometimes you will be the only one who sees the vision. Also get to know who you are and what you want. Don’t be afraid to change if you know some parts of your life are holding you back from happiness and your goals. Most importantly, KEEP GOING! We have one life. You are what you do. Regardless of where it takes you, live in your truth and keep working towards your goals. It’s better to be prepared for an opportunity that never comes, instead of watching it pass by.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents loved me. Loved me so much I was blind at first. My dad is a huge role model for me. He worked so hard everyday. He showed me hard work and resilience really pays off. He tried to lead by example. He was not perfect and he never claimed to be. It was hard for me to understand at first but he just wanted the best for me. To have someone who loves you so much that they use their life force to invest in you is the biggest gift. He instilled independence in me very early which makes it easy to help myself rather than needing others.

My mom loved me exactly where I was at all the time. She seen the big picture and knew I was great. She let me be a free spirit. She also always has a smile on her face and has a joke in her pocket. Her life was not easy but she always stays positive and pours love into anyone she comes by.

They both are the reason I’m able to be amazing and happy. They instilled me with greatness from the womb. God blessed me with the best parents anyone can ask for. I love you dad and mom
