Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ryan Galway. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ryan, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
I learned to step away. Take a breath and meditation has been a great influence how I deal with stress and being overwhelmed. If I don’t take a break for myself nothing will ever get done.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an entrepreneur always diving into multiple projects but helping people and music have always been my main passion and purpose in life.
I grew up always wanting to help people. My two favorite things as a kid was music and helping people. As a kid I couldn’t wait to grow up to become an EMT. and as a kid I would have concerts in my room pretending I was a rockstar. It wasn’t until later in life that I learned I could do both, Help people with music. People would attend concerts for forget about the world and would make them feel better from what the world has thrown at them. Giving someone a backstage pass only enhances their happiness.
Now days I am busy recording my debut album after having worked in the entertainment industry for 15 years on the business side. I wrote songs people can relate to which is matters of the heart. My debut album is called “Heart Matter” The title is the description of the album.
What drives me is I’ve always had a passion for music. When I was a kid I heard if you want to be a rockstar you have to write your own songs. Now I’m finally living out that dream. I’m getting to experience what my clients have all experienced. and It really is a pinch me moment. Seeing “Verified Artist” next to my name is surreal but it’s actually happening. What i’ve done throughout my career is all a pinch me moment. Now I get to do what my employers have been doing for years. I’m still learning what kind of artist I am but, I have zero expectations of the results and I think that is the key to really enjoying this process. I get to write the songs and hear how it affects peoples lives. It is a cool experience for sure.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Patience is very IMPORTANT. Especially in the entertainment world. So many people I know or see just want instant success and it doesn’t happen that way. Many artist’s I’ve toured with took them years before profound success came along.
Dedication. You have to keep working at your craft to keep getting better. I find as a songwriter the more I write, the better my lyrics and stories get but I also think that comes with living life.
Something not working out does NOT mean you failed. It means you’ve learned something that will help you with whatever lies ahead in the future. Life is a journey not a destination. so when you pick things up along the way it makes you better for what you are trying to achieve.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
There are two books.
1st book by Paul Allen – “Artist Management’ Taught me a lot a bout the music business and management. I started in the business during a time where there was limited resources on the internet. Social media was just becoming a popular thing.
2nd book. Don’t always believe what you are thinking.- Main take away in the book for me was do things out of inspiration not desperation.
