We were lucky to catch up with Maggie Roscher recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maggie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I will be honest, when it comes to self esteem I definitely don’t always have it. Social Media is honestly one of the hardest places to have self esteem, you’re constantly comparing yourself to others, and it can really affect how you view yourself. One of the main reason I have self esteem now is I post what I want, without caring about others opinions. I truly love posting cosplays and have so much fun gaming and streaming. As long as you love what you’re doing no one can stop you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
So for people who don’t know me, I am a cosplayer! When I first started cosplaying I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I was constantly trying out characters that I personally enjoy from movies and tv shows. It really brought me joy when people would tell me I’m the reason they got into cosplay. I have always been someone who wants to be a kind person and inspire others. I believe cosplay is a space where you can be your true self, or enjoy being another character. Whichever you choose is your decision and I think it’s so important to have a space like this for people to connect in such a way.
the number one obstacle I’m struggling with right now is knowing where I want to go next. There’s so many new things I want to try, like streaming more, sewing, 3d printing. As someone who doesn’t really makeshift cosplays my goal this year is to make a cosplay completely from scratch. I know that i’m going to have to start with baby steps, but if I push through I know i’ll be able to accomplish this goal.
One of the biggest things i’ve learned through my career is patience. Not everything is going to come at once. You’re not going to wake up one day and be super famous. It’s all time, dedication and consistency to be posting all the time. I’ve learned to enjoy cosplay more and not take it so seriously. Cosplay is about coming together and having love for characters. If anyone is looking for advice I would say believe in yourself! If you set your mind to it, you can do anything.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most important thing that i had through this social media experience is my parents support. They’ve been so supportive with everything i’ve done and everything i’ve accomplished. I’m sure it was scary for them for their only child to go out to california on her own, but i’m so glad they’ve been supportive the whole way.
