We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jue Vé Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jue Vé , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I would say my sense of confidence and the way I view myself improved as I matured. I began to trust sharing myself more as I deepened my mind body connection through sensual expression, art and movement. My moving practices like yoga, reiki and dance helped me really sit with all that I am and have experienced. I learned to appreciate the transformative experiences that make me, me. There was a lot of acceptance and understanding that was waiting for me once I took “Me” with me. I didn’t deny or cut myself off from any of my emotional experiences. When I embraced them all, I found resilience, strength and courage in my story.
I’d say that making peace with my past was the most empowering and transformative experience I’ve ever had. Those qualities make me feel confident and assured

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Burlesque entertainer, a curator and a medium of expression. I am known for my serene and dynamic poses as a fine art figure model here in Seattle, Washington. When I’m not sitting for artists, I can be found entertaining in nightclubs performing as a sensual artist or I can be seen just to the side of a stage at a festival/ production meeting the needs of other performers and artists as a production assistant.
I’d say my brand is about promoting the alchemy of my past into a more delectable version of the storyline. I believe in attuning to the passions that gives you full body glimmers and living for what truly turn you on.
I’m currently putting together a book that speaks to the connection between emotional experiences and personal growth. I’ve found a lot of personal success when I was able to ask myself ” whose story am I telling?” And ” what does this experience truly say about me?”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three main qualities I can attest to being pivotal in getting me to where I am today are determination, curiosity and authenticity. On my worst days, I’d fantasize about what I’d like to happen differently and implement tools I want to manifest into my reality. Having a belief that my story is being written everyday allows me the freedom to meet myself with grace, patience and compassion. I feel as if I am achieving my version of success when I combined my spiritual practices with my creative process; that approach offered me the space to continue showing up as a community member, an artist and most importantly as a safe space for the fullest expression of self I could muster.
The best advice I can offer anyone, would be to outline your story as you meet yourself and identify themes, narratives that you accept. Align to that and only those qualities that strengthen you in community. That’s my magic sauce for empowerment, success and self actuation.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I’d say despite how I felt about my upbringing as a young person, the greatest gift my parents gave me was space to learn about myself and my personal values through self discovery and testing appropriate boundaries. As a first generation Caribbean American, I assumed multiple identities as a person of Afro Caribbean descent in a western society and so I was exposed to many ways of being. As I grew into maturity, I began to see the world for myself. I developed my own way of understanding the ecosystem that we make up as living beings having human experiences. Because I didn’t have someone constantly molding my world view, I learned to accept people for who they are and to have the courage to be tender when so many things told me to harden myself. I curated a sense of my personal power, by assessing my strengths/ abilities and working within my boundaries. The overall masterpiece of what I see in myself as a person is still coming to fruition but I am proud of the storyline I am currently developing. I create and define success for myself.
