Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Diggs. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Taylor , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my childhood—specifically, from navigating the pain and strength that came from losing my father to incarceration at a very young age. I was only 7 when he went to jail, and he passed away while still incarcerated. Growing up, I watched my family—especially my mother—carry the weight of that loss while still holding everything together. That experience forced me to grow up quickly, to find strength in uncertainty, and to turn pain into purpose.
Resilience became a way of life. Every setback, whether personal or professional, became a reminder that I had already survived one of the hardest things life could throw at me. But more than just surviving, I was determined to thrive—and help others do the same.
That’s why I started BPrep Services—to be the resource my father never had. I want to give people, especially those impacted by incarceration, a second chance at life. My resilience fuels that mission. It’s what gets me up every morning, what keeps me grounded during challenges, and what reminds me that every story—no matter how broken—can be rewritten.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the founder of BPrep Services, a workforce development and staffing company committed to helping individuals who need a second chance—whether they’re coming out of incarceration, reentering the workforce after a gap, or pivoting into a brand-new career. Our mission is deeply personal. When I was just 7 years old, my father was incarcerated, and he passed away while still in prison. Before he died, he told me, “If I had a good job or a real opportunity, maybe I would’ve made a different decision.” That moment stayed with me and became the foundation for everything I’ve built.
At BPrep, we go beyond staffing. We provide career coaching, job readiness training, and direct connections to employers who believe in second chances. What makes our work special is seeing real transformation—watching people rebuild their confidence, regain control of their future, and step into opportunity.
But our impact doesn’t stop there. We also invest in the community through early intervention. One of our initiatives involves taking young kids and young adults to visit jails—not to scare them, but to educate them. We want them to see the reality of incarceration and hear real stories, so they can make better choices before it’s too late. It’s about prevention, awareness, and planting seeds of purpose early.
Professionally, I’m focused on scaling our reach. We’re growing our network of employer partners, launching a new mentorship and skills program, and developing digital resources to support people no matter where they are in their journey. Whether someone is reentering after incarceration or simply seeking a fresh start, BPrep is here to walk that path with them.
Because at the heart of it all, BPrep is more than a staffing agency—we’re a movement of hope, healing, and second chances.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been:
Resilience – Life threw some hard punches early on, and I had to learn how to keep going even when things didn’t make sense or feel fair. Resilience helped me push through grief, uncertainty, and setbacks. My advice to others: embrace your struggles as part of your story—not the end of it. Resilience isn’t about never falling; it’s about getting back up every time, stronger and wiser.
Empathy – Understanding people—truly seeing them beyond their circumstances—has been essential in building BPrep. Many of the individuals we serve have been judged or overlooked, but empathy allows us to meet them where they are and guide them forward. If you’re early in your journey, practice active listening. Put yourself in someone else’s shoes. It’ll make you a better leader, partner, and human being.
Resourcefulness – Starting and growing a business, especially one with a mission, requires creativity and the ability to make something out of nothing. I didn’t always have the perfect tools or funding, but I used what I had and found a way. For anyone just starting out: don’t wait for everything to be perfect. Start with what you know, ask questions, and be willing to learn as you go. Being resourceful will take you farther than waiting for the “right time.”
At the core of it all is purpose—knowing your why. When things get tough, that purpose will keep you going.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
The ideal employer partner for BPrep Services is a company that values second chances and understands the power of diversity and inclusion. We work with employers who are open to giving individuals—especially those with justice system involvement, career gaps, or life setbacks—the opportunity to prove themselves. Our ideal partners are not just looking for candidates; they’re looking for people who can grow, learn, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
What makes an employer ideal for us is their commitment to creating a supportive environment where individuals can thrive, even if they don’t fit the traditional mold. These employers understand that when you give someone the chance to rebuild, they don’t just bring skills—they bring dedication, loyalty, and gratitude. We focus on finding the right fit, not just for the job, but for the team and company culture.
If your company is ready to make an impact in your community by offering meaningful employment to those who need it most, then BPrep Services is the partner you’re looking for. We’re here to connect you with individuals who are ready to work, contribute, and show the world what they’re capable of.
