We were lucky to catch up with Berliann Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Berliann, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence and self-esteem have been shaped by continuously stepping into new roles, industries, and challenges—often before I felt fully ready. Each experience, from my early jobs in administration to building my own business in energy healing, has pushed me beyond my comfort zone and proven that I am capable of adapting, learning, and thriving.
Working in customer service, HR, payroll, and office management taught me how to communicate effectively, solve problems, and take initiative. Whether it was managing employees’ needs, handling sensitive payroll tasks, or organizing company facilities, I had to develop confidence in my ability to take responsibility and execute efficiently.
But my biggest leap was starting my own business in spiritual and mental healing. Entrepreneurship required me to trust my skills, put myself out there, and lead with conviction—even when I wasn’t sure how things would turn out. Building a community-based healing space meant being vulnerable, engaging with new people, and believing in the impact of my work.
Winning the “Women in Business award” was a pivotal moment. It reinforced that stepping into uncertainty and taking risks pays off. Every role, every challenge, and every risk I’ve taken has proven that confidence isn’t something you’re given—it’s something you build by showing up, learning, and growing every step of the way.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the Visionary of a woman-led wellness business that blends energy work, mindfulness, and community-centered healing. My mission is to create a space where individuals can relax, heal, and reconnect with themselves through transformative practices such as Reiki, sound therapies, meditation, and energy work. I also proudly support women practitioners, fostering a collaborative environment where their expertise and voices are valued.
What makes my work truly special is its focus on both individual and collective well-being. Healing isn’t just about personal transformation—it’s about building connections and supporting one another. That’s why I host monthly workshops, sound baths, Reiki circles, and energy garden gatherings, creating a space for people to come together, share, and grow.
Beyond wellness services, I also integrate art and products from local small businesses into my space, blending creativity with healing and fostering a sense of community. My goal is to make holistic wellness accessible, welcoming, and deeply personal for everyone who walks through my doors.
Currently, I’m excited about expanding my offerings to include more community events, collaborations with local artists, and new services that align with holistic healing and mindfulness. I want people to know that my business isn’t just about energy work—it’s about creating a movement that encourages self-care, balance, and connection on a deeper level.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge in my journey as a wellness business owner have been empathy and emotional intelligence, business and marketing skills, and holistic and specialized knowledge. Each of these has played a critical role in shaping my business and ensuring it serves both my clients and the broader community effectively.
First, empathy and emotional intelligence have been fundamental in building trust and meaningful connections with my clients. In the wellness space, it’s essential to understand and respond to people’s emotional and spiritual needs with compassion. This connection creates a safe, healing environment where clients can truly benefit from the services I offer. For those starting their journey, I would advise focusing on developing these emotional intelligence skills through active listening, mindfulness, and practicing empathy. These abilities help foster stronger relationships and make your work more impactful.
Second, business and marketing skills have been crucial in ensuring that my services reach the right people and my business continues to grow. While healing is at the heart of what I do, the practical aspects of running a business—like marketing, branding, and financial management—are just as important. Early-stage entrepreneurs should invest time in learning about business and marketing. There are many resources, from online courses to mentorship programs, that can help you understand how to position your offerings and connect with your audience. Don’t be afraid to experiment and learn as you go.
Lastly, holistic and specialized knowledge in areas like Reiki, sound therapy, and energy work is the foundation of my business. Constantly expanding and deepening my expertise ensures that my services remain relevant, fresh, and effective. My advice to newcomers in the wellness industry is to never stop learning. Whether through certifications, workshops, or connecting with other practitioners, continued education is essential for staying on top of new techniques and trends. It also reinforces your credibility and enhances the impact you can make on your clients’ lives.
Overall, my advice for anyone starting their journey is to be patient and trust the process. Building a meaningful business takes time. Focus on your personal growth, stay true to your values, and surround yourself with a supportive community. When you are authentic and intentional in your work, your business will naturally resonate with others.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, I find it essential to take a step back and reconnect with my own practices of mindfulness and healing. As a wellness business owner, I’m always guiding others in their healing journeys, so it’s important for me to practice what I preach and prioritize my own well-being. I often turn to my own modalities—whether it’s a quick Reiki session for grounding, a sound bath to restore balance, or simply a few moments of meditation to center myself. These practices help me reset, focus, and regain clarity so I can approach challenges with a calm mind.
Another strategy I use is breaking down tasks into smaller, manageable steps. When there’s a lot on my plate, it can be easy to feel like everything needs to be done at once. By identifying what’s most urgent and setting clear priorities, I can make steady progress without feeling like I’m drowning in the details. I also remind myself that I don’t have to do everything on my own. I’ve learned the value of asking for help and collaborating with others—whether it’s reaching out to a fellow wellness practitioner, a business mentor, or a trusted friend. Having a strong support system has been invaluable.
Lastly, I try to step outside and connect with nature. Whether it’s a short walk in the park or simply sitting in my energy garden, being surrounded by nature helps me reconnect with myself and find peace amid the busyness of life. I also find that staying organized and sticking to a schedule helps prevent overwhelm from building up in the first place.
Advice for others: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a moment to breathe and realign with what’s most important. Make time for self-care, whether it’s through meditation, energy work, or simply taking a break. Break tasks into smaller, manageable steps and don’t hesitate to ask for support. Remember, it’s okay to not have everything figured out all at once—take it one day at a time and trust that you are on the right path.
