We were lucky to catch up with Dr. Toccara Nicole Steele recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Toccara Nicole, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was a journey of self-discovery, faith, and service. It wasn’t something I stumbled upon overnight, but rather a process of embracing my own identity and realizing that everything I had experienced—both triumphs and challenges—was shaping me for something greater.
From a young age, I had a passion for storytelling and helping others see their own potential. As I navigated different roles in leadership, business, and authorship, I realized that my true calling was to empower others to unlock their authentic selves and step into their purpose. My faith played a huge role in this discovery, guiding me to understand that I wasn’t just meant to succeed—I was meant to serve.
That realization led me to a build platform that helps Christian women entrepreneurs, aspiring authors, and creatives bring their visions to life. Whether through publishing, coaching, or media, I am committed to equipping others with the tools, confidence, and strategies they need to thrive.
My purpose became clear when I aligned my passions, faith, and skills with the impact I wanted to make in the world. Now, I choose to live a life on purpose, for purpose!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Dr. Toccara Nicole, also known as The Identity Architect, and I specialize in empowering Christian women entrepreneurs to unlock their true selves, rediscover their purpose, and build thriving businesses. As a publisher, strategist, and visionary, I guide individuals in bringing their stories to life—whether through authorship, concept development, or personal transformation. My passion lies in helping others step into their purpose with confidence and clarity, living a life on purpose, for purpose.
One of the most exciting aspects of my work is witnessing the transformation that occurs when people realize the power of their stories. Whether I’m coaching an aspiring author, leading a faith-based movement, or mentoring entrepreneurs, my mission remains the same: to provide the tools, support, and strategies needed for success. I love seeing people embrace their identity, step into leadership, and create impact through their work.
At VOS Consulting and Publishing International, I offer publishing services for authors who want to maintain ownership of their work while producing high-quality books. Our services include editing, book layout and design, custom cover creation, and direct connections with printers to ensure authors have full control over distribution. We also offer audiobook production, merchandising, and fulfillment services to help authors expand their brand beyond the book.
Right now, I’m focused on several major initiatives. Tapping into Authorship is one of my newest programs, designed to help individuals—including kids, justice-impacted individuals, and seniors—become published authors. I’m in the process of establishing it as a nonprofit organization to expand its reach and provide more opportunities for those who need a platform to share their voices.
Beyond this, I also lead Women Lead First with Tarsha Anderson-LaBoard, a faith-based movement that fosters collaboration among women leaders, and The Authors Authority Authorship Guild, which provides resources and community for authors.
Everything I do is about empowerment, transformation, and storytelling. Whether through books, business, or media, my goal is to help others step into their purpose and create a lasting legacy. I’m excited about the impact these programs will have and look forward to continuing to serve and uplift others through my work.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, I truly thank God. Three key qualities which have been the most impactful: resilience, vision, and continuous growth. These pillars have shaped my path, allowing me to navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and create meaningful impact.
Resilience has been the anchor that kept me steady through challenges. The road to success is rarely smooth, and there were moments when things didn’t go as planned. But rather than seeing obstacles as roadblocks, I viewed them as stepping stones. My advice to those starting out? Develop a mindset that embraces setbacks as learning experiences. Build the mental and emotional strength to push forward, no matter what. Surround yourself with a strong support system and always remind yourself of your “why.”
Vision has guided every step I’ve taken. From building my publishing company to launching The Authors Authority Lounge and Women Lead First, having a clear and compelling vision has helped me stay focused and intentional. I’ve always believed in creating impact-driven initiatives with clarity and purpose. For those just beginning, I encourage you to map out your long-term goals while remaining flexible in execution. Be intentional about your decisions, align them with your bigger purpose, and never be afraid to dream big. Vision without action is just a wish—so be intentional about bringing your ideas to life.
Continuous Growth has been a game-changer. The world is constantly evolving, and staying relevant requires a commitment to learning and adaptability. Whether it’s mastering new technologies like AI in publishing, networking with industry leaders, or refining my leadership skills, I never stop growing. The ability to adapt has allowed me to thrive, even in uncertain times. My advice? Stay curious. Read, take courses, seek mentorship, and always stay open to new ideas. Knowledge is a powerful tool—use it wisely.
For anyone beginning their journey—commit to growth, be willing to take bold steps, and remember: Choose to live a life on purpose, for purpose!
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The most impactful people in my journey have been those who believed in me before I fully believed in myself. My faith has been the foundation that keeps me grounded and focused, guiding me through the ups and downs. In addition, my mentors, especially those in the publishing and coaching spaces, have played a huge role in shaping my success. They’ve helped me develop the essential skills and qualities I needed—like leadership, resilience, and a deep understanding of the power of collaboration.
Along the way, the relationships I’ve built with fellow entrepreneurs and authors have been invaluable. Their wisdom, insights, and encouragement have not only expanded my knowledge but also reinforced the importance of community. I’ve learned that success doesn’t just come from individual effort; it’s about supporting each other, leaning on those who have walked similar paths, and consistently staying true to your purpose. These people, along with my faith, have been instrumental in helping me navigate challenges and continuously evolve as a leader.
