We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Navausia Laney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Navausia, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I’d say you have to know who you are! For me, it was putting myself in the most uncomfortable environments, going in with a positive mindset, and expecting to come out with successful results. I was willing to take the risk! It’s okay to be afraid, I wont say at times I wasn’t, however; the end result is what boosted my self motivation. You just have to start and trust yourself that with taking on new challenges, can actually have the ability to bring the best out of you!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hey y’all it’s your girl Navausia, THE ONE AND ONLY, and i’m from Atlanta GA. I am an artist, not just any, an R&B Soul artist and i’m for certain I have what it takes to bring real-angelic soul music back! I’ve been writing and doing music since I was 6, but first started to invest in myself in 2024. Unlike most, I haven’t had the luxury of anything being handed to me, I say that to say, when you find what it is you love, you have to dedicate yourself to it 100% and know that hard work will indeed pay off. Currently, I have two projects released and an EP in progress and its nothing the world has ever heard in today’s time! The best part in being an independent artist is that your on your own time. Procrastination use to be my biggest weakness so if I had to give advice, “JUST START”. To give up is to never finish and to quit on myself, I will never allow to happen. Stay silent, remain humble and just grind. It’s something about knowing your purpose and the most important tool to have is trusting God! Music is more than just a sound for me its my peace, my joy, my happiness and no matter the results I get from the people, I live with doing what I love. Get ready world, its about to be a rude awakening and with prayer & staying consistent, what I envision for my music career will indeed be granted. I love you all and cannot wait to share the upcoming events that I have in store for you!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The best tool of knowledge to have is God. To know God comes with wisdom and instruction to happiness. Secondly, I would advise patience! Having patience means you have the ability to endure difficult circumstances which can help you develop emotional resilience. We live in a world today where social media can take away certain desires you may have for yourself but feeling the need of a rush. That will only build lack of diligence & self doubt. Remind yourself of who you are and don’t think too much on anything. Get started, make it happen! Lastly, Take care of yourself! You never want to settle in habits that creates no progress. The best example I could give is when you look good, you start to feel good and when you feel good, that makes your actions go harder. Switch things up sometimes, engage in something exciting every now and then to better enhance who you are as the person you’re portraying.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Remaining Silent and Staying Consistent. I put these two together because it’s the matter of maintaining reliable behavior. I use to miss out on a-lot of opportunities from talking more than listening and made room for others to give their opinions on what I knew was best for me. Learning when to silence myself is a longterm benefit along with applying consistent action. which both brings an impactful balance. Keep hustling. keep grinding, keep silent and always remain humble!
