We recently connected with Brooke Adams and have shared our conversation below.
Brooke, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Late last year leading into the beginning of 2025 my mental health was at an all time low. I was deeply depressed and felt like I wasn’t really living…I was just surviving.
I’d get up, go to work, come home exhausted, and veg out on TV or scroll social media for hours. I felt completely disconnected and numb.
And to top it all off I’d beat myself up for needing to cope. Telling myself I should be doing more when in reality my nervous system was fried. This was the cycle I was stuck in for months.
Honestly, what scared me the most wasn’t even sadness; it was feeling nothing at all.
That’s when the real wake-up call came. A mentor of mine said something that had me shook: “If you aren’t consciously choosing to create your 10/10 dream life, you’re choosing to settle for your current circumstances.”
I just knew, deep down, I had been settling. Settling in my job. Settling in my energy. Settling in my life.
And I realized if I wanted anything to change, I had to start moving.
Not just changing my outer life, but actually shifting my inner world first.
The first step for me was getting brutally honest about how I really felt.
I had so much stuck energy in my body that I hadn’t even been willing to look at. And the only way forward was to finally feel it, to digest it, move it, release it.
First, breathwork cracked the door open & allowed me to feel again, but ultimately it was Somastery, a trauma-informed somatic healing model, that really helped me anchor real change.
It taught me how to actually regulate my nervous system, not just slap a positive mindset over everything and hope for the best.
Through this work, I didn’t just start feeling better…I actually became someone different.
I created a signature program called Devotion in Motion. I found a career path that matches the long-term vision I have for my life. And maybe most importantly, I became the woman I am today: someone who wears her heart on her sleeve, shows up even when she wants to hide, and takes care of her energy like it’s sacred.
Somatic healing taught me that real change doesn’t happen when you’re just trying to “fix” yourself it happens when you’re willing to feel it all, meet yourself with compassion, and keep choosing the life you actually want.
It’s such a gift and I’m so honored to have this knowledge. 🤩
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Brooke Adams, a somatic healer and mentor helping people reconnect with their emotions, build unshakable self-trust, and create real lasting change from the inside out.
Through my work, including my program Devotion in Motion, I guide clients in regulating their nervous systems, moving stuck energy, and stepping into the fullest expression of who they really are.
What excites me most is witnessing people finally come home to themselves. Feeling fully alive, fully expressed, and fully capable of creating the lives they actually want.
Right now, I’m expanding my offerings to include deeper somatic mentorship containers for healers, creatives, and leaders who are ready to embody their next level with integrity, devotion, and joy.
At the heart of everything I do is this belief: You don’t need to fix yourself. You just need to feel safe enough to be yourself.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three biggest things that shaped my journey were emotional honesty, nervous system regulation, and devotion to movement even when it felt uncomfortable.
My advice for anyone starting out: Be radically honest with yourself about how you’re really feeling. Prioritize building safety in your body over chasing quick results. Keeping in mind that small consistent steps will always move you farther than waiting until you feel “ready.”
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would love to collaborate with other somatic healers, sacred sexologists, tantra priestesses, and healers who would be open to exchanging lives on each other’s socials! Cresting cross-pollination and expanding both of our reaches.
