Meet Erin Avery

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erin Avery. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Erin , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

When I was 15 years old, I started to emotionally overeat due to trauma. I was young so I never told anyone about what happened and the only way I felt in control and safe when things became erratic was to eat.. Little did I know that overeating as a teenager would be the stage for all the health issues to come.

I started to gain weight or at least I thought I did around the age of 20. I hated the way I looked and felt. I went on my first diet of many to proceed. I took diet pills, laxatives and ate very little during the week but over ate on the weekends. This cycle stopped and started for about 15 years. I was never diagnosed but I had a binge eating disorder. This way of eating was the catalyst for developing high estrogen, cortisol and inflammation. I had long and heavy cycles. I developed 5 fibroids. I went through a stage of utter sadness and fatigue. My moods were out of control, everything I age made me bloat and gassy. Above everything, I couldn’t lose weight.

During that time, I became a fitness instructor and personal trainer. I knew what to do to get the weight off, but NOTHING was working. I went to the doctors and they told me that my tests were normal. But something in the back of my mind kept saying that having long and heavy periods isn’t normal. Having constant constipation isn’t normal. Feeling awful isn’t normal. It wasn’t soon after I kept getting the “everything is normal” response that I switched OB-GYN’s.

After the first meeting with my new OB, I felt like I was heard. She recommended an ultrasound and long and behold I had 5 fibroids. Three the size of golf balls and 2 the size of softballs. She suggested that a hysterectomy be preformed. Not knowing any better, I agreed and in Janurary 2015, I had my surgery.

I finally can have some relief, so I thought. Yes, the hysterectomy stopped my cycles but if anything, it made everything else worse. I was still bloated, inflammed, constipated, fatigued, and overweight. That is when I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Fastforward to 2024, after I dug into what I know now as functional medicine, I started watching this woman named Rachel on social media. Her story was compelling. Her transformation was incredible. The transformations she created for others was inspiring. I knew her coaching was going to come with a price tag, so I just watched her social page and others in this functional space. I listened to podcasts and whatever advice they suggested to do to get rid of this or that, I listened, took the supplement, did the workout. I felt a little better but still was missing a piece of the puzzle. Finally Janurary 2024, I became a client of Rachel Scheer Nutrition (RSN). Within days, my inflammation was gone. I started to have daily bathroom routines and so much more. I was so elated on how genuinely happy I was, I took her certification program and I am now a Functional Nutrition Practitioner (FNP).

Becoming certified taught me SO much. First and foremost, it taught me that food is medicine and that the inflammation, fatigue, bloat, constipation, heavy cycles and fibroids were all due to high estrogen and that I was likely in perimenopause. Estrogen dominace isn’t anything that Western medicine acknowledges. Real comprehensive blood tests aren’t anything that you can just go to your doctor to get. This lit a fire under me and I knew I had to help other women in a way that helped them holistically to lose weight, have hormone harmony and live a life that made them feel free.

I created my own coaching business helping women do just that. I help women that struggle with weight loss, especially those 35 and older because it is likely that they are in perimenopause and don’t even know it. This stage of life is tender, erratic and special all in the same. The needs of a woman are different at this time. I help them navigate it using a functional approach.

I always say that I went through the struggle so you don’t have to and I use my struggle as my strength and shape my purpose

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Right now I am focusing on building an online community of woman that are struggling with the issues of brain fog, weight gain, fatigue, exhaustion, stubborn weight loss – anything that makes them feel like they know something is wrong but can’t put a finger on it but just off.

I have a few offers that I am excited about.

The first one is the Elite Body Blueprint. This is the compete guide that shows you step by step how to create the most delicious life possible, feel amazing and if you follow the program, you will lose up to 12lbs in 6-12 weeks. It is a digital download that has everything you need like recipes, workouts, how to calculate your own macros and so much more.

The second one is a 12 week course using my 3 phase formula (Foundation, Acceleration + Optimization) that takes you from creating a sustainable blueprint unique to their lifestyle all the way to how to sustain and manage their results. I teach how to optimize protein and why especially now it is needed. Hydration and micronutrient mastery, metabolic foods, and so much more.

The last one is one I just really got into and after looking at the data and research, I am just mind-blown on how revolutionary this is going to be for a lot of people. Peptides are taking the world by storm and these all natural plant-based ones that are up and coming, I think are an amazing tool for someone to use especially if they have the lifestyle component in place. They will 10x there results because it isn’t a quick fix but rather a fix that reaches the cellular level.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that carried me through were determination, self-love, and a commitment to health.

If you’re at the start of your journey—or even deep in it—feeling like you’ll never lose the weight, never feel good in your body, or that this is just how it’s always been and always will be, know this: change is happening, even when you can’t see it.

Every small step, every choice to stay consistent, moves you forward. You can’t go a mile without walking inches. Be patient. Trust in yourself, your faith, your truth—whatever anchors you. Stay the course, and soon, you’ll see how your work compounds into something greater than you ever imagined**.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

My commitment to myself is unwavering. I am crystal clear on the path I’m walking—I no longer do things just for the sake of doing them. Every action, every choice is rooted in intention. I create from my heart and my truth, and if something feels out of alignment, it’s an immediate and resounding no.

I refuse to settle for anything less than a FULL BODY YES—and that clarity has been my greatest transformation.
