Waya, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. Thriving in Unfamiliar Environments
As a creative and entrepreneur, I’ve often found myself in rooms where I’m the only one who looks like me. While it can be challenging, I’ve learned to leverage my uniqueness to my advantage. Here are a few strategies that have helped me succeed:

– Building relationships: I’ve focused on building strong relationships with others, finding common ground and shared interests to foster collaboration and understanding.
– Confidence and self-advocacy: I’ve developed a strong sense of self-confidence and learned to advocate for myself and my work, ensuring my voice is heard and valued.
– Seeking support: I’ve surrounded myself with a supportive network of peers, mentors, and role models who understand my experiences and offer guidance and encouragement.
By embracing my uniqueness and leveraging my strengths, I’ve been able to thrive in unfamiliar environments and achieve success in my endeavors.

So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three Impactful Qualities, Skills, or Areas of Knowledge
Reflecting on my journey, I believe the following three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge have been most impactful:
1. Resilience and adaptability: The ability to bounce back from setbacks, adapt to changing circumstances, and stay focused on my goals has been crucial in navigating the ups and downs of my career.
2. Creativity and innovation: Developing my creative skills and staying innovative in my approach has allowed me to stand out and continuously produce fresh and engaging content.
3. Networking and relationship-building: Building strong relationships with others in my industry and beyond has provided valuable opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and support.
Advice for Early in Their Journey
For those early in their journey, I would advise:
1. Develop a growth mindset: Embrace challenges, learn from failures, and stay open to new experiences and knowledge.
2. Cultivate creativity: Engage in activities that stimulate your creativity, such as writing, drawing, or experimenting with new ideas.
3. Build relationships: Attend events, join online communities, and connect with others in your field to build a supportive network and stay informed about opportunities and trends.
By focusing on these areas, individuals can set themselves up for success and build a strong foundation for their journey.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Balancing Strengths and Improvement Areas
As Waya Boy, I believe it’s essential to strike a balance between leveraging your strengths and working on improvement areas. Here’s why:
– Leveraging strengths: Focusing on your strengths allows you to excel and stand out in your field. By amplifying your strengths, you can create unique value and build confidence.
– Working on improvement areas: Investing effort in areas where you’re not strong can help you become more well-rounded and adaptable. This can also help you address potential weaknesses and improve overall performance.
My Approach
In my music career, I’ve focused on developing my strengths as a singer-songwriter while also working on areas like music production and performance. By balancing these aspects, I’ve been able to grow as an artist and continuously improve my craft.
Advice
My advice would be to identify your strengths and prioritize developing them, while also acknowledging areas for improvement. Invest time and effort in building your weaknesses, but don’t try to be perfect – focus on progress and continuous learning.
By finding this balance, you can unlock your full potential and achieve success in your endeavors.
