Meet Cierra Turner

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cierra Turner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cierra below.

Hi Cierra, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic is honestly rooted in my upbringing. I grew up around family members who ran their own businesses or were very involved in the community, so I’ve seen the impact of discipline, consistency, and going above and beyond. Also, I’ve naturally just always been someone who is driven by goals. I enjoy creating, solving problems, and turning ideas into something real. I’m grateful for any opportunity to learn and grow.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’ve always been the kind of person who enjoys learning, creating something new, and meeting new people. That natural curiosity and creativity led me to pursue a career in marketing at the University of Central Florida, where I majored in Business with a focus on Event Management and Professional Selling.

During college, I sought internships and leadership roles that helped me discover a passion for marketing, for the strategy and storytelling behind it. After graduation, I moved to Detroit to complete my graduate internship at General Motors, and that’s when I started to freelance. Social Spark was born to help founders and business owners show up and thrive online. Through referrals alone, I was able to take on six clients early on.

After a brief pause to support a government agency in their communications and government relations work, I realized how much I missed building something on my own. Now, I run Social Spark full-time while completing my Master’s in Social and Emerging Media at the University of Tampa.

Social Spark has grown from offering social media marketing solutions to full-service marketing: consulting, content creation, website design, graphic design, and more. I’ve started growing a team of talented creatives, expanding our community partnerships, and dreaming bigger about the ways we can give back to the communities that shaped me.

More than anything, I’m motivated to help entrepreneurs and business owners bring their visions to life and support them through the process.

Social Spark will be having some upcoming launches that will be shared very soon – we’re looking forward to sharing them with our community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, taking initiative, being resourceful, and being committed to continuous learning have been the most impactful in my journey.

With time, I’ve learned to become comfortable being the only person to take action, even if I’m the only one who sees what’s possible at first or feels the need to speak up. Taking initiative and leveraging opportunities has opened more doors than I could’ve imagined.

My creativity is connected to being resourceful. Learning how to make the most of what you have is transformative and has helped me in every stage of my journey.

I believe it’s important for everyone to seek ways to gain knowledge and apply it to their craft. Staying curious helps with your personal development and keeps you adaptable.

For those early in the journey, like myself, I believe it’s important to never set limits for yourself. If you believe you can do something, try your hardest to make it happen. Seek mentorship and surround yourself with people who challenge and motivate you. And don’t forget to show up for others because they will do the same for you.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes! At Social Spark, we specialize in social media marketing, branding, and content creation, and we are growing our network of young, aspiring professionals looking to grow their portfolio and help make an impact in local businesses and organizations.
