Meet Jack Robertson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jack Robertson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jack, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep my creativity alive by choosing things that drive my passion. As a filmmaker and an actor, I chose the entertainment industry, knowing that it was the path for me. I needed something that would both challenge me every day, but also continue to inspire me to be better and to make art that inspires others. Every day is a new challenge, but in a fun creative way. I wouldn’t do it any other way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Hi, my name is Jack, I am both an actor and a filmmaker and everything in between. For me what’s most exciting about it is being able to create art that Natalie inspires and pushes me to be creative, but hopefully inspires others when they see it. I started doing both when I was at a very young age just for fun, but I quickly realize that this is something that I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. An industry where I can combine both of my loves and be creative as well. I will be graduating in June from a 4 year BFA and then in the fall I will be pursuing getting my Masters. I can not wait to see what this industry has in store for me.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think that resilience is definitely a skill that I had to build up. I would say dedication to the craft because there are a lot of days where I would rather be doing something else or a lot of family events that I would rather be at. A lot of holidays that I have missed, but I wouldn’t have it any other way and I would say just hard work in general without being a hard worker and putting 110% into this, I don’t think any of it would be possible. I also think that you should always believe in yourself. I think that if you wanna do something that is even in the realm of possibilities just go for it no matter what, just go out there and chase your dreams because you never know what will happen. If you are a hard worker and have a goal you can achieve anything.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

This is a great question. What I like to do when I feel overwhelmed is close my eyes. Take deep breaths and just really tap in to what is going on and what I am feeling. I love doing breath control, and I will do that before any big audition or show or just in life. I also am such a big music guy. I love having my headphones on and I love listening to music so that also helps me when I feel overwhelmed.
