We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keri Marino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keri below.
Hi Keri , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem by building an audacious, deeply accepting, and conscious relationship with myself.
I experienced a significant amount of childhood trauma, and it showed up in all the ways you might expect—low self-worth, body image struggles, and a deep disconnection from myself. When you don’t receive the emotional support, stability, and presence you need as a child, it creates an inner ache—a sense that something is missing or broken.
In my teenage years, I found myself searching for answers in the self-help section of bookstores, desperate to feel better. That’s what led me to yoga. Through yoga, I began to experience myself differently. I learned how to feel what was happening inside me—physically, emotionally, and mentally. I discovered that my body wasn’t just something to fix or fight with, but a source of wisdom, pleasure, and presence. I realized I had the power to make choices, to slow down, to breathe, to care for myself in a way I never had before.
Over time, I began to feel safe in my own body. That safety opened doors to deeper healing and growth work—work I could not have done alone. Along the way, I had teachers, mentors, and community to walk with me, and that support was life-changing.
Interestingly, I didn’t build self-confidence by trying to be confident. I built it by knowing myself—my wounds, my gifts, my patterns, and my power. I mothered the younger version of me who didn’t get her needs met, and I continue to meet them now as an adult.
Today, I am who I am because I was willing to go within and keep showing up—for the messy parts and the magic. That relationship with myself is what changed everything.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a yoga therapist and somatic healing guide, and I help women come home to themselves—body, mind, and spirit. After nearly two decades in my field, I created The Nourished Woman Membership—an on-demand guided practice library and learning space where women do gentle yoga and somatic practices that support nervous system healing and build the skills to live a more grounded, joyful, and empowered life.
I created this because many women—especially mothers, wives, and women with drive—are quietly carrying the weight of disconnection, depletion, and emotional overload. They’re showing up for everyone else while struggling to show up for themselves.
My work is about helping those women reconnect to their bodies, their breath, their spirit, emotions and their self-worth—so they can live with more presence, pleasure, and power. It’s not about perfection or performance. It’s about consistent, bite-sized support that meets you where you are.
Each month has a fresh theme (this month is breathwork), with short, accessible practices designed to fit real life—whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, or just craving deeper presence and connection.
What excites me most is watching women fully own who they are—bravely embracing their intuition, speaking their truth, and living more audaciously. It’s not about doing more—it’s about coming home to yourself, having fun, and trusting the wisdom inside to guide you through whatever life brings.
If that speaks to you, this is a beautiful time to join us.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are self-awareness, courage, and consistency.
Self-awareness helped me understand what I was feeling, what I needed, and how my body was trying to communicate with me. That awareness became the foundation for healing and growth.
Courage showed up as a willingness to go inward, face hard truths, and keep showing up—even when things felt messy or unclear. It takes guts to meet yourself fully, but that’s where real transformation begins.
Consistency helped it all take root. Not perfection, but the kind of steady, compassionate showing up that builds trust within yourself over time.
My advice to anyone starting out is this: begin by building a relationship with yourself. Slow down enough to listen. Let your body and your breath be your guides. Surround yourself with people, spaces, and practices that remind you who you are—and help you become who you’re meant to be.
Healing isn’t linear, and growth isn’t always comfortable—but the beauty and freedom on the other side are worth it.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers
This book gave me permission—permission to dream bigger, value my work, and stop apologizing for wanting more. One of the most impactful takeaways was the idea that women, especially women who serve and lead from the heart, are deeply worthy of wealth and that’s it’s our responsibility to bring it in and direct it toward the highest good. Not just for ourselves, but for the ripple effect it creates in our families, communities, and the world.
It challenged so many old money stories I didn’t even know I was still carrying—stories rooted in scarcity, guilt, and smallness. Rachel’s voice is bold, direct, and incredibly empowering. Her work helped me claim my seat at the table as a healer, a mother, and a businesswoman.
