Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lindsey Westendorf. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lindsey, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience isn’t something I learned—it’s something I am. It’s woven into every part of me, built from every challenge I’ve faced, and sharpened by every moment I’ve had no choice but to push forward.
As an Aquarius, I don’t do limits. I move differently, think ahead, and refuse to be boxed in by circumstances. That mindset has carried me through life, business, and motherhood—especially as a mom of four, with one of my babies being a transplant child. When you’ve walked through the fire of medical uncertainty, sleepless nights, and the weight of advocating for your child’s life, resilience isn’t just a trait—it’s survival.
I’ve always been a hustler. I built something out of nothing, turned my passion into a thriving business, and kept pushing forward when most people would’ve tapped out. I don’t just work hard—I move smart. I pivot when needed, and I make things happen. Whether it’s running my business, guiding my team, or showing my kids what strength looks like, I take charge and make sure we all rise.
But more than anything, my resilience comes from knowing that I was made for more. Life has thrown its punches, but I never stay down. I regroup, I adjust, and I come back even stronger.
And that’s exactly what I’ll keep doing.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Some people start businesses with investors, business plans, and safety nets. I started mine with a wing, a wax pot, and a relentless drive to build something bigger than myself. I literally had just over $900 bucks in my bank account and two kids at home to take care of. I didn’t have a plan B.
When I launched Smoothe LLC (now known as Smoothe & Co.), I wasn’t just starting a business. I was creating a space where people could come, feel confident in their skin, and trust that they were in the hands of skilled professional who genuinely cared.
And let me tell you, building this business wasn’t easy. I started solo, pouring every bit of energy into perfecting my craft, growing my clientele, and making sure every person who walked through my door left feeling better than when they arrived. Over time, my reputation grew, and so did my dream.
Almost three years ago, I had my last child. Just after he was born we discovered he had two rare liver diseases and that he would require a liver transplant. So I to take a step back to care for him (I actually just recently returned to the treatment room).
Just after his liver transplant (at five months old) about two and half years ago, I took a huge step and expanded Smoothe & Co. into a full-fledged storefront. That move wasn’t just about getting a bigger space—it was about scaling everything: our treatment offerings, my team, and my vision.
Now, Smoothe & Co. isn’t just a waxing studio. It’s an award-winning spa with a team of talented estheticians who share my passion for results-driven skincare. We’re constantly evolving, training, and staying ahead of industry trends to bring our clients the very best. From advanced skincare treatments to relaxing enhancements, and meticulous speed waxing. We are always looking for ways to improve and elevate the experience at Smoothe & Co..
What makes Smoothe & Co. special isn’t just the treatments—it’s the experience. Every treatment is backed by education, every client is treated with care, and every visit is more than just an appointment; it’s a step toward confidence. My team and I are obsessed with delivering real results, whether it’s smooth skin, glowing complexions, or the perfect brow arch.
Beyond that, I’ve built a culture of excellence. We don’t just hire estheticians—we cultivate experts. Continuous education is a must, and every team member is trained to be not just great at what they do, but also great at making clients feel seen, heard, and valued.
To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. The best is yet to come!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three biggest factors that shaped my journey with Smoothe & Co. were innovation, leadership, and continuous education—supported by an incredible team. I wouldn’t be where I am today without constantly evolving, and surrounding myself with talented professionals who share my vision.
Smoothe & Co. isn’t just about me—it’s about the team, the clients, and the culture we’ve built together. Leadership, to me, isn’t about having control; it’s about empowering others. I’ve made it a priority to create an environment where my team feels valued, supported, and continuously growing. I hire people who are passionate, skilled and committed to excellence, and I make sure they have the tools and training to thrive. Create a space where your team feels supported, and they’ll not only elevate your business—they’ll inspire you to keep pushing forward.
One of the core values at Smoothe & Co. is education—for both our clients and our team. Our industry is constantly evolving, and the only way to stay at the top is to keep learning, refining, and improving. That’s why we prioritize advanced training, monthly skill-building/marketing sessions, and making sure our team is always on top of new industry standards. A knowledgeable team doesn’t just offer better treatments—it builds trust, credibility, and lasting client relationships.
At the end of the day, I wouldn’t be here without my team. Their skill, dedication, and passion make Smoothe & Co. what it is. A strong business isn’t built alone—it’s built by people who believe in the mission and show up every day to make it happen.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents have done for me is support me through tough times and love me unconditionally through everything. No matter what life threw at me—the challenges of building a business from the ground up, the struggles of motherhood, and the highs and lows of navigating personal and professional growth—they were always there. Their unwavering support gave me the confidence to take risks, push through setbacks, and trust in my resilience.
Through every season of life, they’ve shown me that love isn’t just about being present when things are easy—it’s about standing beside someone when things are hard. That kind of love is rare, and I carry it with me in how I lead my family, my team, and my business. Because of them, I know that no matter what obstacles come my way, I’ll never face them alone. I love you Mom & Dad!
