We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bryan De Justin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bryan , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence through confronting my own inner darkness and self-doubts. Everyone has personal fears, shadows, etc. but not everyone confronts them and comes out stronger and better. I told myself that if I wanted my clients to be able to do this, I needed to be able to do the same thing.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Child & Family Life Coach, Hypnotherapist, & Writer. Since I was little I knew that I wanted to work in the psychology field and was always drawn to depth and unconscious dynamics. From about 6 or 7 years old I read college-level books on mythology, mysticism, and self-help. I was always drawn to how we could go ‘beyond ourselves’ and discover more about ourselves and the world around us in the process. This ties into what I do currently: I work with unconscious dynamics to provide clients with a more insightful and meaningful session experience than usually experienced through modern means.
Regarding my writing career, it was also something I was always drawn to. When I was little I would have my mother buy me blank arts and crafts books and write stories about wizards and dragons in them. Humorously, I also had a notebook full of pac-man stories. Currently, I focus more on Romantic, Visionary Fiction as well as psychological non-fiction. I recently published my first book “Testaments from Another Life”, an illustrated collection of tragic romantic tales. I am currently working on a several plays, a drama, and a literary soap opera.
Professionally, I see myself as a kind of bridge-builder between my clients/readers and their inner selves. Both in my writings and in my personal sessions with clients, I provide individuals the opportunity to connect more with internal world, especially in an era where we are so disconnected with the more romantic and emotional aspects of life and are clouded by modern struggles and stressors.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I attribute a lot of who I am to my mother, who cultivated these talents and interests in me from an early age. You would think that she was in the psychology field as well — but she wasn’t. She was a single mother working in fashion — independent, strong, and loving. These three ingredients are essential for any and all mothers to provide the greatest gifts they can to their children. At present, she remains supportive of me and I could not be more appreciative for her. I suggest to any and all people who pursue the path of success to have someone to trust and fall on.
There is an epidemic currently evolving in the modern age — particularly in America. It is an invisible, silent killer that is plaguing society and alarming rates. This is the epidemic of soulless humans. There are individuals who roam about the earth without a soul and are only flesh. They operate mechanically and robotically, having lost all spark and joy of life. They wake up at the same time every day, go to work and leave at the same, perform the same functions every day, return home, sleep, and repeat the same. These individuals have lost all connection both with their highest self and their purpose. They have forsaken themselves — in a sense, and are now puppets for other powers to use them — be their material (governments, businesses, etc.) or spiritual. I suggest to all individuals to never lose their connection both the the highest power they believe in as well as their own highest vision of themselves.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am eager to meet filmmakers, cinematographers, screenwriters, and producers at Spanish-language streaming platforms and soap-opera producers from Telemundo, Univisión, Televisa, and Caracol who appreciate the heightened passions of telenovela form. I’m also keen to partner with Cuban-diaspora creatives and Miami-based production houses poised to bring culturally, socially, and psychologically relevant projects to life. If any of this resonates, reach me at bryandejustin@gmail.com. I have several unique, and compelling ideas.
