Meet Ryan

We recently connected with Ryan and have shared our conversation below.

Ryan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

my mom and pop
when we were kids my dad had 3 jobs keeping food on our table and making sure we had what he didn’t.
when my mom was around she always preached have patience and the fruits will come when its due

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I never thought of myself a musician. Sure i make music but i was never taught theory and don’t know so much about music other than the stuff i’m in to.
I know people who live and breathe this craft.
i express my self with sound and get out all the weight i have on my head. I found what works for me and people relate

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

learning patience is all i needed
i don’t really seek a career from this music thing, sure we all want it to be something we make a living from, but for me, once it gets to a point where i’m filling someone else’s cup over mine transactionally it loses substance.

if its not expressive its not art

advice for anyone: stop asking for advice.
find what makes you feel at home, and run with it.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

my journal
i read my journal back to remind me how far i’ve come/how far back i set myself (which i’m realizing is normal)
nothing lasts forever
dont be afraid to restart, if we knew failure was the outcome we wouldn’t even try
