Meet Luke Gardiner

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Luke Gardiner. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Luke below.

Luke, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

It’s not to say I was abandoned, because that’s certainly not the case. But I was left alone a lot growing up, and forward into later years dealing with substance abuse in isolation; I had to find ways to overcome and stay positive.
It seemed when I would need someone most, all I would have was myself. So I had to make that be more than enough.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Creating stories from images, and showing all the beauty and wonder in the world. From the smallest things like winters snowflakes, to the people and the world that encompasses us all.
Being on both sides of the lens it’s never a dull moment.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities I had that transitioned well into imagery for me was: attention to detail, endurance, and open mind. Always looking for how something small can make a big difference. Endurance to keep pushing and to venture to new and exciting locations. The most important; open to all ideas and possibilities.
There are many qualities to have, but if you feel you possess these, focus and expand on them just as I described for myself.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

The way I spend my time currently is; live life like every day is your last, and spend as much time outside as the days allow.
With only a decade left it would be that feeling x10. Seeing all the places in the world I crave most while creating and documenting along the entirety of the way.
