We recently connected with Devin Caesar and have shared our conversation below.
Devin, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My journey to discover my purpose began at 18, just a few months before my high school graduation, when I landed my first job in the restaurant industry. I have always enjoyed communicating and connecting with others. While this often put me at odds with teachers during my school years, as I would occasionally disrupt the class despite completing my assignments, I recognized that this skill would serve me well in customer service. I possess an innate ability to be attuned to the physical and emotional needs of others, allowing me to anticipate their requirements effortlessly. However, after about three years in the industry, I began to feel drained, unsupported, burned out, and stagnant. I realized that my aspirations extended far beyond a lifetime of greeting customers, waiting tables, or working as a cashier. I aspire to connect with people on a deeper level, a realization that sparked my journey to become a medical assistant. With graduation approaching, I juggled roles as a phlebotomist at night and a waitress during the afternoons, all while attending school in the mornings. My move from Memphis, TN, to Los Angeles, CA, was a dream come true—my father’s side of the family resides here, and I cherished my childhood summer visits. My life in Los Angeles has revolved around family and my career as a medical assistant. I have explored various departments driven by personal experiences and the impact of illness on loved ones, as many family members and friends have faced challenges or lost their lives due to serious health issues. I began my career at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, then moved to a call center for GYN, General Surgery, and Urology at a medical group called HealthCare Partners. I found love and got married, and I currently work at UCLA. Over my 13 years there, I have gained experience in Hematology/Oncology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Orthopedics, Sleep Medicine, Geriatrics, and Extensive Care. Working day in and day out with doctors who approach various illnesses and patients in diverse ways, along with their families, has profoundly expanded my capacity for empathy. Just a few days before my 34th birthday and Thanksgiving in 2018, I made the difficult decision to end my marriage. At that point, I realized that very few of my ambitions had been realized, prompting a reevaluation of my life. I recognized that I was not living my authentic life; instead, I was attempting to conform to societal expectations—which has never been my nature. The end of my marriage marked the conclusion of people-pleasing, self-sacrifice, and the quest for external validation. As I began restructuring my personal life, the year 2020 became a pivotal moment that opened my eyes to the complexities of the U.S. healthcare system. While the healthcare industry is undeniably essential, I sensed there was more needed for true thriving in life—a desire to explore deeper. I began to ask myself fundamental questions: What constitutes genuine preventive healthcare? I realized that annual check-ups, blood tests, and various scans are insufficient—they often rely on the discovery of something abnormal before action is taken. What additional steps are doctors not sharing that are critical to living a healthy life? By evaluating my interactions with patients, I sought commonalities among them. I discovered that a key link ties individuals to control: factors such as fear, anxiety, depression, comparison, competition, and disconnection from the earth. This newfound awareness led me to embark on a deep exploration of metaphysical studies.
I discovered that when I recognize admirable qualities in others, it’s often because I possess those traits myself. This realization made me more aware of the situations that triggered feelings of fear, anxiety, depression, comparison, and disconnection from the earth—all of which ultimately stem from energy. Everything is energy. The energy you embody flows from your perception, which in turn shapes your reality and is rooted in your belief system. By altering your beliefs about yourself, you can transform your reality and, consequently, your perception. With this newfound awareness, I began to engage in shadow work, delving into the 12 universal laws and energy healing by balancing my chakra system. I reconnected with my intuitive Clair senses, allowing them to surface without judgment while honoring the presence of both divine masculine and feminine energies within me. Upon returning to my center with my innate energy, I found myself questioning the reasons behind my unpleasant life experiences. This inquiry led me to explore the cosmos, prompting an examination of my astrology chart. I came to appreciate astrology as an ancient and infinite scientific study. Learning about two key aspects, particularly my rising sign or ascendant in Pisces, illuminated my empathy, compassion, intuition, idealism, and the necessity for personal boundaries. With Vigro as my descendant, I articulated my desire to serve others. I seek individuals who exemplify selflessness in their partnerships—those who offer tangible, practical support to their partners. These are the people who remember your favorite foods, assist with daily tasks, and provide pragmatic advice. I am drawn to traits of stability and consistency, favoring partners who are practical, logical, and analytical, as these qualities resonate with my own need for understanding and clarity. My exploration of the first house (rising/ascendant) and the seventh house (descendant) has brought profound awareness to my self-discovery and partnership journey. In astrology, the Earth signs associated with the second, sixth, and tenth houses represent material security, practical work, and personal status. With Taurus in the second house, I am inclined towards personal wealth, possessions, and self-worth. The presence of Leo in the sixth house imbues me with a desire for creativity and enjoyment in my daily work and healthy routines, as well as a potential for strong leadership. Meanwhile, Sagittarius in the tenth house, also known as the midheaven, points to a career path involving travel, higher education, or philosophical endeavors. Through a deeper understanding of my astrology chart, I began to reflect on the vibration that resonates within me. This journey has led me to a deep exploration of numerology. In my quest to interpret my numerology chart, I discovered that my life path number is six, embodying the qualities of nurturing, compassion, and a commitment to fostering harmony and balance in my relationships. Individuals with a life path number six are often naturally inclined towards professions in caregiving and healing, driven by a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to assist others. This revelation affirmed my belief that I am on the right path. I simply needed to remove the veil and reconstruct my belief system. I have come to realize that mental health is the cornerstone for all other bodily systems, and believing in oneself is crucial. If what you believe conflicts with your innate sense of balance, it can lead to dis-ease within the body, eventually manifesting as disease. Having healed myself from the inside out, I now find my thoughts focused on how I can aid in the healing of others. To this end, I am on a journey to create online self-development workshops that encompass modules in metaphysics, astrology, and numerology. Additionally, I offer astrology and numerology mini-readings, along with energy candles for aromatherapy and meditation practices.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I empower individuals to heal from within by transforming their lives through the profound influence of cosmic energy. Our origins are deeply rooted in Earth, and our well-being hinges on its abundant resources. By harnessing the energy that envelops us, we can cultivate a powerful abundance mindset. This journey involves embracing every moment, every season, and the full spectrum of experiences—both the joyful and the challenging—while understanding that one enriches the other. We are here on Earth to fully experience life in both its unity and duality, unlocking the potential for growth and fulfillment.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most important quality I bring to the table is an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Additionally, I have a strong ability to teach and inspire those around me. When I speak, people pay attention, which makes me intentional about my message and its impact. I also take immense pride in being your biggest cheerleader; witnessing others pursue and achieve their dreams fills me with unparalleled joy and motivation. I am dedicated to uplifting and empowering those around me on their journey to success.
My advice to anyone on the journey of self-discovery is to remain steadfast in your commitment to yourself, even when doubt and fear creep in. Remember, these feelings are merely challenges designed to test your resolve and desire to reconnect with your true self. Embrace the journey and keep pushing forward; these emotions will ultimately fade, but your commitment to personal growth will lead you to profound transformation.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
There’s a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.
1. For every problem, there is a solution; it’s up to you whether you are looking at the problem or are looking for solutions.
2. When the choice is to be right or to be kind, always make the choice that brings peace.
3. Other people’s opinion of you is none of your business.
