Meet Jake Bird

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jake Bird. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jake, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I am most definitely still working on self confidence and self-esteem through my music everyday. Honestly, not as much as I could be. These are some topics that I put into my music, since the majority of the music I create is things that I can relate too or am thinking about in that particular moment. It might seem a little backwards for some, but I feel the confidence was more there when I was little. I think that’s because you don’t have a care in the world and not necessarily pursuing something you care more deeply about. As I’ve grown older, it more often comes and goes now. Although, with each song I put out and push myself outside of my comfort zone, it grows.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an independent artist pursuing a music career that hopefully is unique in it’s own right and can resonate with others at any given moment. One of my main goals is to create something that people can truly enjoy in any type of environment or however they are feeling at the time. What I mean is, I will be making something for not only me but for others as well so they can hopefully take their own special version from it. I want my music to have variety so I will be continuing with my own style I have been trying to hone over the years, but also make maybe a little more alternative EP for this current summer.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Believe in yourself. Once you do that, others will believe in your determination towards that goal. If you don’t give everything you got into what you are striving to achieve, you will most likely drop it like another hobby. Accept the inevitable criticism from others. If you hear negative/positive or even no feedback at all, keep pushing. Having a taste of a little bit of everything helps improve and hone your own skills. Others may see some important minor things that you don’t. That doesn’t mean you have to change your entire style or start on a clean piece of paper. Criticism can be good. If only given three, lastly I would say is self discipline. It really is a big one and ties into a lot of others that will help truly give you that push you need. Setting some type of schedule instead of doing it at random times on random days will really help you stay consistent with what you are trying to pursue!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I have always enjoyed to work with people when it comes to music! It has only been producers and mixing engineers, but I would love to maybe work with some singers for a few songs. Whether it’s just a short verse, main chorus or both! I mostly have a style of rap in my music, but I would say I do it in a more melodic way that has an interpretation of singing. I also will just strictly sing in more emotional settings or slower songs that I make. Off the top of my head, I have had some ideas in mind for some upcoming music for a female vocalist on a hook/chorus though if any were interested? However, anyone is able to reach me by looking up Jake Bird on any of the social platforms, most should also have my business email listed in there as well!
